Today the ACT Middle East Treasury Summit opens in Dubai, and it is our first Summit as the Association of Corporate Treasurers's Accredited Training Partner.

Over two days, treasury and finance professionals from across the region will discuss markets, liquidity, risk and the direction of the profession.

Alongside those discussions sits a practical question: how professionals build, and demonstrate, the expertise the role requires.

TQ Consulting is now an Accredited Training Partner of the Association of Corporate Treasurers (ACT) across the GCC.

The ACT is the chartered professional body for treasury and the only treasury association to hold a Royal Charter. Its qualifications range from the Certificate in Treasury Fundamentals to the Certificate in Treasury and the Diploma in Treasury Management, with flexible MicroCredentials for professionals who prefer to study one topic at a time.

Through this partnership, we will support professionals and organisations across the region in accessing ACT qualifications, with local support from a team that has been building capability in the GCC since 2004.

We will be at the Middle East Treasury Summit in Dubai on 22–23 September.

مثلًا، هذا الملف التعريفي لورشة «هل تستخدم الذكاء بذكاء؟» صُمم بمساعدة الذكاء الاصطناعي.

لكن هل يكفي هذا وحده لنقول إننا استخدمناه بذكاء؟
بالنسبة لنا، هناك أسئلة أهم من مجرد الوصول إلى النتيجة:

- هل وصلت إليها بسهولة، أم استغرقت وقتًا وجهدًا كان يمكن اختصارهما؟
- هل تستطيع تكرار ما فعلته، أم أن النتيجة كانت محاولة نجحت هذه المرة فقط؟
- هل تحولت التجربة إلى طريقة عمل تستطيع تطويرها كلما تطورت الأدوات؟

وإذا تعثر حسابك، أو تعطلت المنصة، أو قررت الانتقال إلى أداة أخرى، فهل يبقى معك ما بنيته؟ أم تبدأ من الصفر؟

Most organisations approach AI adoption in exactly the wrong order.

They see the urgency. They feel the pressure. And they do what feels most immediate — they book their teams onto AI awareness training.

Then six months later, nothing has fundamentally changed.

Not because the training was bad. Because training was never the right first step.

Here is what we consistently observe across organisations in the GCC:

There is no clear answer to the most basic question — what does AI adoption actually mean for us, specifically, in our context?

No AI strategy. No readiness assessment. No understanding of which processes, roles, and workflows AI will genuinely change. No governance framework for responsible adoption. No baseline measurement of where the workforce currently stands.

Just training.

And training without strategy is as ineffective in AI adoption as it is in any other capability challenge.

The organisations that will successfully navigate AI are not the ones that trained the most people the fastest.

They are the ones that asked the harder questions first.

What is our AI readiness baseline?

Which parts of our organisation are genuinely ready to adopt AI — and which are not?

What governance and responsible AI framework do we need before we scale?

What does our workforce need to build — not just awareness, but real capability?

🔹 Strategy before training.
🔹 Readiness before rollout.
🔹 Capability before tools.

That is the sequence that produces lasting results.

Most people hear "Mental Toughness" and think it means being hard, never showing emotion, or pushing through everything without support.

That is not what it means.

And that misconception is costing organisations real performance.

Mental Toughness is a personality trait which determines, in large part, how people respond to challenge, stress and pressure — irrespective of their circumstances.

It is not about being tough all the time. It is about self-awareness — understanding your own profile well enough to know how you lead, collaborate, and perform when it matters most.

Some of the most effective leaders we have worked with are not highly mentally tough across every dimension. They are highly self-aware about where they stand and what that means for their teams.

A training budget asks: what programmes can we run?
A capability strategy asks: what needs to change — and how will we know if it did?
