Worried About The 9% TAX ? 🧐

* For the first time, the United Arab Emirates, of which Dubai is a part, has announced the implementation of a company tax. What does this mean for international businesses and expats in the country?

All enterprises and commercial activities (outside of free zones) with profits above 375,000 dirhams (about $102,000) will be taxed. Small enterprises and startups would be unaffected as a result of this. Natural resource extraction businesses are likewise free from the tax.

Because many are headquartered in free zones, which are tax-free, the impact on foreign enterprises would be negligible.

In the UAE, there are no personal income taxes and they are unlikely to be implemented anytime soon.

Will this make it more difficult for foreign enterprises and expatriates to relocate to the UAE?
Unlikely. According to KPMG, most Gulf bordering states have some type of corporation tax.
