A word from our co-founder how Ecoden was started.
I grew up in a well off family and never was a minimalist .I watched my dad work hard to give us this fancy lifestyle .I grew up with alot of clothes ,fancy and latest items ,furniture, latest clothing ,use to spend alot on skincare products etc I was an avid meat eater the sight of vegetables even made me want to puke .But what changed me is coming across a video about fast fashion knowing how my clothes are being produced using slave labour and the impact on the environment ,that shook me so I decided to make one change that is shift to fairtrade clothing from Fab India .That one change has brought me to where I am today. It made me more.concious of things I buy I slowly then started to research about where my meat comes from that led me to giving up meat then fish then eggs and finally dairy cause I couldnt continue supporting an industry that causes harm to animals when I can sustain myself well with a plant based lifestyle. After being years into ethical veganism it got me thinking of the environmental benefits to veganism that is when I stopped and looked into the other products I am using shifted to vegan and cruelty free products .But it dint stop there I became more conscious of the the trash I started to produce so started to make changes using items within my house ,one small resuable bottle ,one small cloth towel ,switch to a few resuable pads ,trying to cook more homemade vegan meals ,reusing my clothing ,one small bar of soap to sustain me for my skin and hair care .These changes add up imagine if millions of people adopted these small changes it will make a big impact .Today I live zero waste ,plastic free ,vegan ,adopt fairtrade principles whatever way I can and am minimalistic.Yes I have been ridiculed for this way of life ,yes you can be made to be feel like an outcast in family and friend gathering ,yes it was hard to even get jobs as my beliefs dont line with companies that produce products and services that harm animals ,exploits people and the environment ,yes I have been rejected by jobs due to the way I dress cause I choose not to wear suits or go to the saloon as I believe in embracing my natural self. But it is worth the effort ๐
