In a dramatic escalation of the ongoing national student movement, Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra have launched an unprecedented sit-in protest directly outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence at Lok Kalyan Marg in New Delhi. The sudden demonstration was triggered by alleged police brutality against young student groups who have been actively protesting the high-profile NEET-UG examination paper leak controversy. Flanked by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, K.C. Venugopal, and numerous opposition Members of Parliament, the senior leadership joined hands on the street to demand total accountability for India's youth. The opposition is now explicitly calling for the immediate resignations of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. With heavy security forces deployed and the high-security zone completely cordoned off, Delhi Police are moving in to detain the agitating leaders and clear the unauthorized gathering.

Delhi Police removes climate activist Sonam Wangchuk (Sonam Sir) from the protest site after nearly 20 days of indefinite hunger strike.

Founding President of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), Abhijeet Dipke, alleged that police personnel arrived early morning, forcibly dragged the 60-year-old activist away while he was on fast, and also manhandled him and other protesters. Dipke claimed they had no information on Sonam Sir's whereabouts initially and described the police action as heavy-handed, calling the officers "RSS goons."

The ongoing CJP protest demands the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in competitive exams including NEET-UG. Wangchuk joined the movement in late June, turning it into a major focal point with his fast.

Police reportedly shifted Wangchuk to a hospital citing medical concerns and court directions amid his deteriorating health. The incident comes ahead of planned further protests.
