This one gets asked about more than anything else I’ve posted, so here it is properly. Vietnam International Fashion Week, April 2018, walking Hà Linh Thư’s collection. Beside me is H’Hen Niê - Miss Universe Vietnam, first Ê Đê woman to hold the title, Top 5 at Miss Universe later that year. She gave her entire prize money to scholarships in her home village. Sharing a runway with her was a privilege.

Google flew 100 of us to Tokyo to redesign what Maps becomes next.

Three days inside Shibuya Stream HQ. Not a keynote. A working session with the most obsessive map contributors on the planet.

Maps is shifting from points to impact. They want you to see how many people your photos actually helped, not how many badges you earned.

Lens plus voice is the real play. Point your camera at a building and ask why it’s blue. Ask a restaurant what’s trending this month. A real-time AI concierge for the physical world.

The room represented over 1,000,000 map updates between us. That is why Google treats contributors like an internal team, not users.

The next decade of Maps will not be built in Mountain View. It will be built by the people who quietly update the world one point at a time.

Presenting to an audience that included Her Excellency Kong Rath Lum Orng, Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Tourism, I shared my vision for Cambodian cuisine in global tourism.

It was with great sadness that I learned of the passing of Hattori Yukio, President of the Kanto Branch of La Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, on October 4th, 2024. I had the pleasure of spending time with him in 2019, and his contributions to the culinary world were truly inspiring. His legacy and passion for the joy of food will forever live on in our hearts. Rest in peace.
