Some folks believe that puff-puff is overrated.

For me, what I like most about these balls of deliciousness, is the fact that it easily gives corner-cutting away.

So if you use bad /stale oil, if the mixture is not balanced- ingredients wise, just a bite will give these things away.

In one of my usual extra income stream quest, I decided to capitalize on my eye diagnosis and started to sell frames - I eventually graduated to doing the whole stuff (frames and prescription lens installation)

I had premium customers, most within the University Campus and so my Mokola visit was very frequent.

My plug was an Igbo man - he owns Zenith eye care just by the post office. He sold very unique frames at good rates since he was bulk purchasing locally and internationally. His services were just good enough for me to still make reasonable profit without selling at cut-throat rates.

The gist now is that while on this frames business waka, I discovered a peppered puff-puff woman just by the road.

There was always a queue but I always managed to patiently wait - sometimes I timed her opening to match my movements.

One good day, I attended an intimate birthday gig and she was the small chops vendor😁

I greeted her casually and was shocked when she said - customer wa

Omo😂 I was ecstatic because I knew that I was covered as per e sure me sey I go chop beta😜Long story short , I chopped and carried home as per say I sabi better person🤩.

I am on an Ibadan missing spree because work is threatening to drag me there for a few meetings and on the top of my list of things I miss is this puff puff at the Post office 🤦‍♀️

I also miss the UI Archives pounded yam🥹

Please share your favorite food spots in Ibadan- I want to test my skills and save recommendations for my work trip😋

Meanwhile, do you know this puff-puff spot? Have you marked attendance there before?

I am not sure I’ll ever understand how family members who visit are able to travel with food items and the likes no matter how tight the economy is.

Back when I was in Uni, a visit from my Sis based in Akure was always spectacular because food was sure. Hot pounded yam and badass egusi cooked with vegetable oil and batfish, plus arrogant ponmo 😁will accompany her. Not to forget the dried veggies - any type you can imagine. Whole home roasted chicken and iru (locust beans to die for) plantain and yams. Solid food sha most of which I will use to do ‘the girl is good’😜

One of us or (let me say her favorite sibling) turned 5O recently and she came bearing gifts as usual, for all the Lagos based siblings - inside this economy o. I was shocked, pleasantly so sha because I mean, we’re talking food here😁.

She’s proof that generosity is never from a place of enough or excess.

In my magnanimity, I’ll be sharing pictures of the sumptuous meals I shall be making when the time permits but on my food page Foodieguideng

I am presently snacking on the iru because it’s fresh and sand free unlike the other ones around 🙄

If you see me get rounder pls blame her after blessing her for me🙏

9 Days to go 💃💃💃

It is a walk to end hunger 🔊🔊🔊

On the 26th of August, 2023 by 7am the Lagos Food Bank will be hosting the fifth edition of its annual walkathon at TBS Cricket Field, Lagos Island.

Why are we walking?

🗣️ We are walking to create awareness about the importance of child nutrition.

🗣️ We are walking to encourage school attendance through food security for less privileged children.

🗣️ We are walking to reduce dropout rates, develop the student’s health, and increase their ability to comprehend in class.

🗣️ We are walking to be the voice of the hungry, the vulnerable and less privileged.

I love good food, I also have a gift of sniffing out some of the best food spots around.
I however prefer to make my own meals.

I am one of those women who believe that a balance is possible, and I can have it all.

Excel on my career path, build a home, have a social life and a mix of other things.

All of this are often times affected by so much - crazy or if you like epileptic economic scale and plenty more.

Thankfully, I am a Nigerian; meaning that I am weather-proofed kind of😆

That 'lion will never eat grass' thing plays out consistently. This is largely helped by innovative Nigerians who keep churning out time saving, pocket-friendly and nutritious products to cushion the times as they change

I recently discovered some kitchen gems in some Lagos markets (ojuwoye in mushin, Mọsalasi Alhaja in Agege and Oyingbo in Ebutemetta)

Tiger foods' recently launched stew mix, plain mayo and choco mayo as well as Golden Penny's Choco spread.

For Tiger Foods stew mix, I was sceptical but repeated use has gotten me to a safe zone. With the stew mix, I make banging jollof rice, spaghetti, porridge, moin-moin and stew.

The Golden Penny Chocolote spread on the other hand is a big hit with kids. You'll see the wraps of this product at street corners littering everywhere. Children just eat away like it's chocolote candy, some Adults too☝️🙈

It goes really well with pancakes and crackers and apples😁 as well as on crispy toast.

Same with Tiger foods Choco mayo.

I am not a bread fan so my spreads work more with puff-puff and dip recipes.

You should try out these products and let's swap recipes.

Breakfast on a saturday morning.
A saturday following a week full of naira hunting related waka-waka...

Banga/palmkernel #500
Bangaspice. #50
Fresh rodo/scotch bonnet #100
Scentleaf - neighbours garden

Had protein & seasoning at home already.

Banga/ofe akwu does not require plenty Money. It goes well with rice, yam and swallow even bread🤣🤦

You can put rice inside - gbam! Banga rice don set.

So, manage the small naira you have - no be every day stew, stew.

Try cooking jollof okro (good okro is in season now) just grate some with the tiny part of your grater to help with viscocity of the okro mucilage🙄(draw-draw)

If you know the tricks around rich beef parts, it will help you this period.

Be adventurous, buy fresh Crabs - not too pricy, very nutritious.

Buy palmoil, beach and store - not everytime vegetable Oil stew 😜

I have bought stalk for
Waakye preparation thanks to . Little must become much😜

God forbid that malnutrition will join the issues on ground😂

Abeg try dey chop well, wàhálà no dey finish.

Victoria Ascerta!
