World Ocean Day!
Today we celebrate and take action on 8 June, World Ocean Day! One Ocean, One Climate, One Future - Together.

Oceans cover 71% of the Earth's surface, yet we've only explored 10% of its vast depths. So how many undiscovered creatures are there?

World Oceans Day is a day to think about the extremely important role that the oceans play in all our lives, the dangers that are facing our oceans and the actions we can take to protect them.

A KILLER WHALE IN ACTION

Whales may be found in every ocean on the planet, communicating with intricate and fascinating noises. The blue whale can grow to be more than 100 feet long and weigh up to 200 tons, which is equivalent to 33 elephants. Whales breathe air despite the fact that they live in the sea. They are warm-blooded mammals who nurse their young, just like humans. They are protected from the cold ocean waters by a thick layer of fat called blubber. Baleen whales, which include blue, right, bowhead, sei, and gray whales, are classified as baleen whales. This is due to the fact that they have specific bristle-like structures in their mouths that strain food from the water. Other whales have teeth, such as beluga and s***m whales.

The orca, often known as the killer whale (Orcinus orca), is a toothed whale that is the largest member of the oceanic dolphin family. It has a black-and-white striped body that makes it easy to spot. Orcas are a cosmopolitan species that may be found in all of the world's oceans in a variety of marine settings, from the Arctic and Antarctic regions to tropical seas; the Baltic and Black Seas, as well as some portions of the Arctic Ocean, are the only places where they are not found. Orcas eat a wide variety of species, while certain populations specialize in specific sorts of prey. Some only eat fish, while others hunt marine mammals like as seals and other dolphin species. Baleen whale calves and even adult blue whales have been known to be attacked. Because orcas have no natural predators, they are apex predators. They are extremely sociable; some populations are made up of the most stable matrilineal family units (pods) of any animal species. Their advanced hunting skills and vocal mannerisms have been considered as signs of animal culture, as they are often unique to a single group and passed down through generations.

OMG βš“οΈπŸ¦ˆ

We can see sharks swimming around aggressively in this captured moment. And we can see people in similar cages attempting to save them.

The traditional viewpoint depicts a lone hunter scouring the oceans for food. However, this only applies to a few species. Most lead far more social, sedentary, and benthic lives, and appear to have distinct personalities. Even solitary sharks congregate for breeding or rich hunting grounds, which can cause them to travel thousands of miles in a single year. Shark migration patterns may be even more complex than bird migration patterns, with many sharks covering entire ocean basins. Sharks can be very social, preferring to congregate in large groups. In the Gulf of California, for example, more than 100 scalloped hammerheads congregate around seamounts and islands. There are interspecies social hierarchies. During feeding, for example, oceanic whitetip sharks outnumber silky sharks of comparable size.

A VERY RARE MOMENT.

What an rare moment where a tiger shark is approaching the diver.

The tiger shark typically grows to an adult length of 3.25–4.25 m and weighs between 175 and 635 kg. It is dimorphic, with females outnumbering males. Mature females frequently exceed 3.7 m in length, whereas mature males rarely reach that height. Females can reportedly grow to be over 5 meters long, and the largest males can grow to be 4 meters long. Female tiger sharks, in particular, can weigh more than 900 kg. One pregnant female caught off the coast of Australia was said to be 5.5 meters long and weighed 1,524 kilograms. Unconfirmed catches of even greater magnitude have been reported. Some papers have accepted a record of an exceptional 7.4 m length for a tiger shark, but because this is much larger than any scientifically observed specimen, verification is required.

GOT IT'S TARGET

This larger juvenile great white shark seemed to be a vegetarian..haha

At birth a baby great white shark is already about 5 feet (1.5 meters) long; as it grows it may reach a length up to four times that. The pup (which is what a baby shark is called) will live its life at the top of the ocean's food chain. But before it grows larger, the pup must avoid predators bigger than it isβ€”including other great white sharks. Many baby sharks do not survive their first year. Young great white sharks eat fish (including other sharks) and rays. As they grow, the sharks’ favorite prey becomes sea mammals, especially sea lions and seals.

TOGETHER FOREVER.

Diving is much more than fish. The beauty of these two vibrant mandarin fish captured by a lens. Is just stunning.

Synchiropus splendidus, the mandarinfish or mandarin dragonet, is a small, brightly colored member of the dragonet family, which is popular in the saltwater aquarium trade. The mandarinfish is native to the Pacific, ranging approximately from the Ryukyu Islands south to Australia. It can usually be found in some of the warmer waters.

THE DREAM DIVE

Isn’t this breath taking moment every divers dream?

The whale shark is a slow-moving, filter-feeding carpet shark and the largest known extant fish species. The largest confirmed individual had a length of 18.8 m. The whale shark holds many records for size in the animal kingdom, most notably being by far the largest living nonmammalian vertebrate. The whale shark is found in open waters of the tropical oceans and is rarely found in water below 21 Β°C and whale shark lifespans at 80–130 years. Whale sharks have very large mouths and are filter feeders, which is a feeding mode that occurs in only two other sharks, the megamouth shark and the basking shark. They feed almost exclusively on plankton and small fishes, and pose no threat to humans.

PEACEFUL INTERACTION

A gray whale's arteries and veins lie side by side. As a result, cooled blood from the surface is warmed before it goes to the heart. This adaptation helps the whales conserve body heat. A whale's muscles have large amounts of myoglobin, a protein that stores oxygen, allowing long dives and submersion.

GOING IN CIRCLES

Orcas, often referred to as β€œkiller whales” are a toothed whale and are the largest member of the dolphin family (from the Delphinidae family). Their size is what led to humans calling them whales! Depending on the season and where they are, their diet varies – some eat plenty of fish and squid, others feast mostly on seals and penguins. But wherever they are in any of the world’s oceans, average-sized killer whales may eat about 227 kilograms of food a day!

A MAGICAL EXPERIENCE

Although blue whales seem to have a deep blue color underwater, they are in fact revealed to be gray when surfacing. It is the color of the water and light from the sun that make them look deeper blue than they really are.
