โ€‹Whether thatโ€™s physically, mentally or spiritually. Change comes from within, so we should always really try to refrain from external influences.

โ€‹Especially in this day and age of social media, and what is and isnโ€™t perceivably acceptable!

โ€‹There is and always will be one of you, and we only get one life to live. We should be wanting to do everything in our power to raise our levels with every new day.

โ€‹This could be getting better at our chosen craft, doing more of the things we love, building knowledge, improving general health, being kinder to others (and to ourselves)โ€ฆ ๐Ÿ“

โ€‹The list goes on but you get where Iโ€™m coming from, right?

โ€‹Even the word competition, I detest it! To be honest, I only stuck it in the heading to gain traction! ๐Ÿ˜‚

There are gonna be days (well, more days than you think) when the easy option seems more attractive.
โ€‹
โ€‹When it comes to getting in the gym and smashing out todayโ€™s workout, that easy impulse has a knack of showing up more than youโ€™d like! ๐Ÿ™ˆ
โ€‹
โ€‹๐Ÿ—ฃ โ€œIf I just check those emails before I get changedโ€
โ€‹
โ€‹๐Ÿ—ฃ โ€œOooh whatโ€™s this latest 10 minute video from my favorite YouTuberโ€
โ€‹
โ€‹๐Ÿ—ฃ โ€œAhh my daughter/son is just too irresistible to not play with right now!โ€
โ€‹
โ€‹Yes, all of these things we tell ourselves, important or not, have a knack of getting in the way of our progress and self care.
โ€‹
โ€‹We can do all these things and a ๐˜ž๐˜๐˜–๐˜“๐˜Œ ๐˜“๐˜–๐˜› ๐˜”๐˜–๐˜™๐˜Œ, ๐—ฎ๐˜€๐˜€๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด we stick to the plans weโ€™re personally setting ourselves on a daily basis.
โ€‹
โ€‹So how do we overcome the temptation of the easy way out? ๐Ÿคจ
โ€‹
โ€‹Through discipline and ๐—ฑ๐—ถ๐˜€๐—ฐ๐—ถ๐—ฝ๐—น๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฒ alone!
โ€‹
โ€‹Hard work doesnโ€™t happen without discipline, and hard work done โ€˜the right wayโ€™ over and over again will eventually reap the rewards you set out to achieve ๐Ÿ’ฏ
โ€‹
โ€‹So when that voice in your head calls outโ€ฆ

โ€‹Or better still, what top 3 lessons would you pass onto your children when it comes to mental and physical health?

โ€‹1๏ธโƒฃ Learn about food and cooking; and I mean โ€˜real foodโ€™ grown from mother earth, not this toxic processed crap they plug on tv, magazines, billboards, etc which become โ€˜the normโ€™ to most of us when we age!
โ€‹
โ€‹Learning to cook doesn't mean you need to be Gordon Ramsey! Just learn the basics, and no, not f****n beans on toast! ๐Ÿ™ˆ
โ€‹
โ€‹Keep it simple, boil veggies and rice. Oven bake potatoes and various meats. Prepare eggs, whether thatโ€™s boiled, poached, scrambled or omelettes. Or how about a homemade spag bol or curry, yummm! ๐Ÿ˜‹
โ€‹
โ€‹When you're confident about prepping your own meals, you can then put your own spin on it and you actually know whatโ€™s going in your food.
โ€‹
โ€‹2๏ธโƒฃ Learn how to really exercise! Which is something weโ€™re not โ€˜reallyโ€™ taught in school.
โ€‹
โ€‹Okay yeh we have PE in the UK! But seriously, what do we really remember in PE? Except doing laps of a field in the pouring down rain, thatโ€™s if youโ€™re from up north anyway!
โ€‹
โ€‹We play the usual football, a little rugby, the odd gymnastics-like-move, or a few athletics events, especially when itโ€™s the run up to sports day!
โ€‹
โ€‹The thing is, weโ€™re not taught how to achieve and demand the best from our bodies. Lessons in biomechanics, how our body moves, the muscles in our physique, the mind-muscle connection, body type, and so on.
โ€‹
โ€‹3๏ธโƒฃ Learn martial arts; become a master of one or many.
โ€‹
โ€‹And no not so you can go around kicking the living ๐Ÿ’ฉ out of everyone whoโ€™s done you wrong, although wouldnโ€™t that be sweet! ๐Ÿ˜‚
โ€‹
โ€‹Learning the arts from a young age can set you up to be a master of discipline, build a tough mental attitude, a dedication to hard work, and give you a confidence which is literally unbreakable.
โ€‹
โ€‹๐Ÿ”‘ These are super important and should be staples in our school education.
โ€‹
โ€‹They will put you in good stead to achieving what you set out to do in later life ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿฝ

So Iโ€™ve not posted here for a while (ashamedly admitting!)

โ€‹As a lot of you probably know, my amazing wife recently gave birth to our beautiful twins Koah and Laena ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’–
โ€‹
โ€‹When I say โ€œItโ€™s a life changing experience!โ€
โ€‹
โ€‹This is one hell of an understatement! ๐Ÿคฏ
โ€‹
โ€‹The last month has been such an unbelievable rollercoaster of love, emotions and sleepless nights!!
โ€‹
โ€‹And for anyone whoโ€™s a parent you will know exactly what Iโ€™m talking about, especially parents of twins!!
โ€‹
โ€‹This stuff is hard man!!!
โ€‹
โ€‹When I woke up this morning I noticed a โ€˜worryingโ€™ ever growing hole in my daily diary to-do list.
โ€‹
โ€‹Thereโ€™s been a constant filthy red cross next to SMP for the last month or so! โŒ
โ€‹
โ€‹Yeh that stands for โ€˜social media postโ€™
โ€‹
โ€‹Now I could go into more detail why exactly Iโ€™ve not been posting and make all the excuses in the world, but Iโ€™m not going to do that!
โ€‹
โ€‹I simply haven't been on the ball and not in the head space for it.
โ€‹
โ€‹Am I disappointed in myself? Hell yeah I am!
โ€‹
โ€‹Does that make me a bad person or a failure? No, of course not.
โ€‹
โ€‹Itโ€™s not the end of the world, Iโ€™ve just gotta get back on the horse again!
โ€‹
โ€‹In any situation weโ€™ve always got to look for any positivesโ€ฆ
โ€‹
โ€‹1. Kayleigh and I have 2 new beautiful humans in our lives.
โ€‹2. Mother and babies are healthy and happy.
โ€‹3. Iโ€™m spending precious time with them at such a tender age.
โ€‹4. Our family bond is growing stronger every day.
โ€‹5. Weโ€™ve had so much help and kindness from our friends and family.
โ€‹6. Iโ€™ve managed to professionally service all my 1:1 private clients throughout.
โ€‹7. Iโ€™ve kept a sharp eye on my health and fitness, and remained consistent in the gym.
โ€‹8. I can now give advice about what it takes to be a Dad in shape!
โ€‹9. I can change a nappy in 2.7 seconds flat! Haha! Nah not just yet!
โ€‹
โ€‹I suppose my point is weโ€™re human and weโ€™re allowed to fall off the horse every now and then, ๐™–๐™จ ๐™ก๐™ค๐™ฃ๐™œ ๐™–๐™จ ๐™ฌ๐™š ๐™™๐™ค ๐™œ๐™š๐™ฉ ๐™—๐™–๐™˜๐™  ๐™ค๐™ฃ.

โ€‹That doesnโ€™t make us a lesser person, and we have nobody else to let down or answer to but ourselves.
โ€‹
โ€‹As a wise man once said "It gets easier. Every day it gets a little easier. But you gotta do it every day, that's the hard part."

โ€‹A lot of us, this includes me in the past, think that just showing up for that gym workout, a specific meal time, or for that leisurely jog in the evening is gonna reap the rewards no matter what.

โ€‹We think that the results are linear, and if we show up for most of the time then Bobโ€™s your uncle and weโ€™ve cracked it!

โ€‹It doesnโ€™t actually work like that.

โ€‹๐Ÿ“ Youโ€™re in the gym just going through the motions ๐Ÿฆฅ

โ€‹Youโ€™re there in body but not in spirit. Stop daydreaming, waiting for that reply to your message, or anticipating the next song on your playlist.

โ€‹If youโ€™re following your program the only thing that should be on your mind is how youโ€™re gonna tackle the next set. Go get it! ๐Ÿ”ฅ

โ€‹๐Ÿ“ Youโ€™re not eating exactly what youโ€™re supposed to be eating ๐Ÿคฅ

โ€‹Are you actually cooking all your meals? Do you know exactly what ingredients are in there? What about portion size?

โ€‹Most would say no, reason being something else would take precedence and youโ€™d take the easy option ie take out, eat out, or have a family member/friend cook for you.

โ€‹This is not following a nutrition plan.
โ€‹
โ€‹๐Ÿ“ 5 hours a night is not 8 hours ๐Ÿ›Œ
โ€‹
โ€‹Quality sleep is so important for all of us if weโ€™re expecting to perform in our daily lives.
โ€‹
โ€‹If weโ€™re lacking in this office then the whole department falls down! In fact weโ€™re already defeated from the off!
โ€‹
โ€‹Quality sleep gives us the best chance of a successful day so be sure to monitor it if you want to consistently improve overall.
โ€‹
โ€‹The road to self improvement is a tough one, and can be rocky at times.
โ€‹
โ€‹However if you stick to a well structured plan, then the tough times are a lot more manageable and the results are actually reachable ๐Ÿ’ฏ
