Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (Dewa) has taken another step forward with the seventh phase of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum Solar Park, opening technical and financial bids after receiving offers on 1 July.

The project will add 2,000MW of photovoltaic solar capacity alongside a 1,400MW battery energy storage system with six hours of storage, delivering a total storage capacity of 8,400MWh.

Sabic reported a $100m net loss for Q2 2026, attributing it to the Iran-US regional conflict.

A consortium of privately owned US and Saudi companies has announced a $5bn investment commitment to develop an integrated oil refining, storage and export facility located beyond the Strait of Hormuz shipping lane.

Following three years of evaluating potential sites across the Gulf, the consortium has shortlisted three GCC locations. Discussions have progressed significantly over the past two years, with the preferred site expected to be selected by the end of 2026.
