IFZA Introduces Enhanced UBO Compliance Requirements.

Companies registered with IFZA should take note of an important update regarding Ultimate Beneficial Owner (UBO) records.

Effective 16 June 2026, UBO information must be updated and maintained to support licence renewal applications.

Under UAE Cabinet Resolution No. 109 of 2023, failure to update UBO records with the relevant registrar may result in administrative fines and the suspension of commercial activities.

Key changes include:
βœ” Updated online forms for UBO information and supporting documents
βœ” System-generated UBO declarations requiring authorised signature
βœ” Additional KYC documentation where required
Businesses should review their records and ensure their UBO information remains accurate and up to date to avoid delays or compliance issues.

Important Update: ASP Appointment Deadline Extended.

The UAE Federal Tax Authority has extended the deadline for appointing an Accredited Service Provider (ASP) for e-Invoicing compliance from 31 July 2026 to 30 October 2026.

While the appointment deadline has been extended, the mandatory implementation date for e-Invoicing remains 1 January 2027.

This update provides businesses with additional time to assess their requirements, select the right provider, and prepare for a smooth transition.

The requirement applies to in-scope entities with annual revenues exceeding AED 50 million.

If your business may be affected, now is the time to review your e-Invoicing readiness and implementation strategy.

Bahrain's labour fund, Tamkeen, has launched an emergency support initiative to assist businesses affected by recent regional developments.

The programme is designed to help impacted SMEs maintain business continuity, protect jobs, and navigate operational challenges during periods of uncertainty.

Measures such as these highlight Bahrain's ongoing commitment to supporting the private sector and strengthening business resilience when companies need it most.

For businesses operating across the GCC, it serves as another example of how governments in the region continue to prioritise economic stability and private sector growth.

Saudi Arabia Compliance Alert: CHI & GOSI Integration.

Employers in Saudi Arabia should review their employee health insurance records following the implementation of a new integration between the Council of Health Insurance (CHI) and the General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI).

Key considerations:
βœ” Employees registered with GOSI should be included under the company's health insurance policy.
βœ” The new integration automatically validates employee data across both systems.
βœ” Discrepancies may result in policy activation issues on the CHI platform.
βœ” Non-compliance could impact residency renewals and may lead to delays or penalties.

We recommend that employers review their records and coordinate with their health insurance provider where necessary to ensure compliance.

For questions regarding employee enrollment or policy coverage, please contact your health insurance provider directly.
