At the end of Ramadan, Mayú María and Monica Kubik are traveling again to our next retreat in Georgia and taking a small group of people with us to spend time in vast nature, with a herd of 80 free roaming horses, to find back to their own strength and to fill their life with purpose.
Is it the right time to travel amidst all the chaos and uncertainties in this world?
Yes, I think it is.
More than ever, it is time to move forward.
We can always find reasons why something is not working and why we should wait a little bit longer.
And yes, outside circumstances may change and block our path, that is part of life.
We need to always remain flexible and open to change.
But that doesn’t mean we should be sitting in our comfort zone just because something bad may (or may not) happen once we step outside.
If there is one thing we should learn from the horses it is to live in the present moment, to enjoy what we have right now, be thankful for it, and only to worry when we are in direct danger.
If you observe a horse herd like the one we will be working with in Georgia – they spend most of their time grazing, slowly moving forward in small groups.
At first glance, it may look boring and like not much is happening.
However, if you look again after 20 minutes, you will be surprised how much ground they have covered by constantly moving forward in slow, but determined steps, always looking for the next best piece of grass.
You will also notice that they are always vigilant – attentive, but not stressed.
They are calm and relaxed in their grazing, but if a shepherd dog comes running or some other unexpected change occurs – they can immediately jump into a gallop!
It would be good for our own progress if we can learn to also be a bit more like that – steadily and calmly moving forward, not stressing about potential dangers, yet ready to react flexibly to changes at any given moment.
