SMALL BUSINESS RELIEF DOES NOT MEAN “NO CORPORATE TAX OBLIGATIONS.”
The UAE’s Small Business Relief can significantly reduce the Corporate Tax burden for eligible businesses, but there is an important point that companies should not overlook, you still need to comply.
For eligible UAE businesses:
• Revenue must be AED 3 million or less in the relevant Tax Period and all previous applicable Tax Periods.
• Small Business Relief must be elected for each Tax Period.
• Eligible businesses must still submit their Corporate Tax Return within the prescribed deadline.
• Proper accounting records and supporting documentation must still be maintained.
In other words, Small Business Relief simplifies the tax position. It does not remove the business from the UAE Corporate Tax framework. This distinction matters because one of the most common compliance mistakes is assuming that a company with little or no Corporate Tax payable has nothing to file. This assumption can create unnecessary penalties and compliance issues later.
For UAE founders and SME owners, the better approach is simple: register correctly, maintain proper records, understand your eligibility, file on time.
Corporate Tax compliance should be managed before a deadline becomes a problem.
