Even the advisors who help clients choose a second passport/residency for a living aren't neutral about it. They have their own picks. 🧐

For Part 2 of our 'Which Program Would You Choose' series, we asked Private Client Advisors Grace Basmaji and Vy Nguyen which residency or citizenship by investment program they'd choose for themselves. Between lifestyle, global mobility, and long-term planning, their reasoning went in completely different directions.

Watch the video to see which programs they picked! 👀

Planning for a U.S. passport at birth? The rules may be changing.

The U.S. has taken new steps targeting birth tourism and seeking to further define who qualifies for citizenship at birth.

Two Executive Orders signed on August 6 address birth tourism and certain situations involving children born to foreign nationals, including circumstances involving temporary or unlawful presence and commercial arrangements.

For families considering the U.S. as part of their global mobility plans, this is a reminder that immigration and citizenship rules can evolve - and old assumptions may not be enough.

Want to understand how these developments could affect your family’s plans? Speak with Passport Legacy’s advisory team.

What if your second passport could also form part of a longer-term route to doing business in the United States?

Grenada is the only Caribbean Citizenship by Investment programme with a U.S. E-2 treaty relationship, allowing qualifying Grenadian citizens to pursue the U.S. E-2 Treaty Investor Visa.

But there’s an important step investors need to know about. If you acquired Grenadian citizenship through investment, you must maintain a continuous domicile in Grenada for three years before you are eligible to apply for an E-2 visa.

And citizenship alone does not guarantee an E-2 visa. The E-2 is a separate U.S. application requiring a qualifying investment and compliance with its own eligibility requirements.

For qualifying investors, the E-2 can provide the opportunity to live in the U.S. while developing and directing a qualifying business investment.

This makes Grenada more than a second passport for some investors. It can form part of a longer-term strategy connecting Caribbean citizenship with U.S. business opportunities.

Considering Grenada? Speak with Passport Legacy to understand whether it fits your wider global mobility strategy.

6,134 Turkish citizenships revoked. What does this mean for investors?

Türkiye has revoked the citizenship of 6,134 people who obtained nationality through its Citizenship by Investment programme, including investors and their family members, following a major crackdown on widespread fraud and security non-compliance within the programme.

Those whose citizenship was cancelled revert to foreigner status and have one year to sell their Turkish property - otherwise, the Treasury can sell it on their behalf.

The case highlights an important point: getting the passport is not the end of the process. Strong due diligence and compliance are critical when considering any investment migration programme.

Thinking about Turkish citizenship by investment? Speak with Passport Legacy to understand what to consider before applying.

Thinking about European residency through property investment?

The European Golden Visa landscape has changed significantly in recent years. Spain has closed its programme, Portugal has removed property as a qualifying route, and only a handful of countries continue to offer property-linked residency in 2026.

Greece
Cyprus
Latvia
Malta

The lowest investment figure doesn’t necessarily mean the best fit. Each programme comes with its own requirements, property rules and conditions.

Citizenship is already part of long-term family planning 🌍

For families thinking beyond the next generation, citizenship can sit alongside the conversations around trusts, wills, education and long-term wealth planning.

Don’t wait for a reason to act - just make sure you understand your options while you still have them.
