Do you still need to file tax if the company was inactive?
An inactive company still has to file. Having no sales, invoices, employees or other business activity during the period does not, by itself, remove an incorporated company from the Corporate Tax system. If the entity continued to exist as a Taxable Person and had not completed Corporate Tax deregistration, it should still assess and meet its filing obligations. A business that has permanently ceased operations may need to apply for deregistration and complete any outstanding returns and payments.
This distinction matters for companies that stopped trading but retained their legal entity, trade licence, bank account or assets. Assuming that inactivity automatically means no return is required can leave an outstanding filing obligation unnoticed.
