Throwback to the Apartment Cafe Valentine’s day edition 🤍 what started as me attending .dxb workshop turned into a fun collaboration for Valentine’s Day :)
I showed up the only way I know how, with my baked goods!. A bit of sweet and savoury, good drinks and even better company :) This is exactly why I love doing the apartment cafe. There’s something about feeding people in a space that feels intimate and intentional that I truly enjoy. Strangers leave full, happy and somehow less like strangers. I’d want to keep creating these moments, in different rooms, with different people and different themes. If that resonates with you, you know where to find me☺️

Typing this while eating this so bear with me🤭
I came across sumac and strawberries as a pairing from and immediately thought this needs to go in a cake of mine. So today, world baking day felt like the right moment to finally give it a go.
Chocolate cake. Roasted strawberries with sumac mixed into buttercream. First time trying this combination and I’m already putting it on the menu for you all to try (I won’t gate keep). The way sumac brings out the flavour of the strawberries is something else entirely. Different, fun, and honestly just really good! I can’t pinpoint what the familiar taste is but it’s just fun when you taste a new flavour combination and you’re already like this is going to be a favourite.
This style of cakes are called chaos cakes, the design, the look, all of it. I call it having fun 😍 And the best part? You cut into it and it’s just as interesting on the inside. Honestly this is exactly why I love baking. Most of the time you just need to have fun with it. Try the thing on the list. Make a mess. Eat the whole slice before you finish the caption. Cut another slice after posting this and make everybody wish you a happy world baking day.🎉😌

HOT CROSS BUNS! ✝️
If you’re trying out a recipe, give hot cross buns recipe a go!
I used cranberries soaked in orange juice instead and skipped out the spices for cinnamon and orange zest for a subtle citrus flavour!
These buns are super soft ,perfect to enjoy over the next few days and they stay soft and fresh!🤤
