"Health care institutions and insurance providers communicate using numeric values to describe medical diagnosis, procedures and medical care. Coding systems like ICD 9 and ICD 10 are used to define treatment, assist in reporting, and expedite payment processes. Earlier, although ICD 9 was used widely, it will be replaced soon with another diagnose code set called ICD-10-CM. All insurance companie
s, as local and international are now demanding health care providers after October 1, 2014 to use the ICD 10 codes. This course will allow managers and insurance providers to handle organization and system migration timeline and to manage the practical requirements to operate under both ICD 9 and ICD 10 during the transition period. In addition, it will help in understanding the impact of transition on their documentation claims acceptance/denial process and its effect on their revenue cycle. Trainees will be provided with practical tools to do mapping, develop checklists and carry out action plans."
