Move over Changi; the UAE’s Zayed International Airport, aka the Midfield Terminal, has officially bagged the title of the World’s Most Beautiful Airport at the 2024 Prix Versailles international architecture awards. Chosen over 400 other contenders at the prestigious event held in Paris, this Abu Dhabi marvel has not only redefined airport design but also turned heads with its sustainable innovation and cultural nods.
If the undulating roof of the Zayed International Airport looks familiar, you might’ve spotted it in the latest Mission: Impossible film. Designed by the renowned architects at Kohn Pedersen Fox, the roof has dune-inspired curves and also helps save energy at the airport by casting natural shade over the terminal.
