Earlier this year, the Middle East hotel sector navigated its most severe disruption since the pandemic. The ceasefire in April marked the beginning of a slow recovery, but the structural fundamentals never changed.

335 hotel projects with 84,438 rooms are actively under construction across the region. A further 180 projects are expected to break ground within the next 12 months. Planning-stage activity has surged 36% in project count year-on-year.

The pipeline didn't pause. The work behind it can't either.

Marriott International cut food waste by 67% in six months using AI-powered kitchen technology.

At the London Marriott Hotel Canary Wharf, the initiative saved an estimated 20,000 meals and 33 tonnes of CO₂ annually.

The technology made the headlines. What made it work was the layout, workflow, and infrastructure behind it. AI waste systems need the right environment to deliver, and that starts with how the kitchen is designed.

Sphere Abu Dhabi has just been announced.

A $1.7 billion venue on Yas Island, the first Sphere outside the United States and only the second in the world. Visible from Sheikh Zayed Road, built to host immersive experiences, concert residencies, and events at a scale no other venue in the region can match. Expected to complete by end of 2029.

The Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi just got a full feature in National Geographic.

377,000 square feet. The first natural history museum of its scale in the Middle East. Built on Saadiyat Island in five years, a timeline its own team described as "insanely short."

From the $31.8 million T. rex to a blue whale flown in on a private 747, this is a project built to make a statement. And it has.
We were proud to be part of it.

Luxury hotel guests in 2026 are more discerning than ever.

They're not impressed by abundance. They expect precision, in every experience, every detail, every moment on property.

What they never see is what makes that possible. The kitchen that runs without disruption. The laundry operation that turns linen overnight. The waste system that keeps everything moving quietly behind the scenes.

The gap between a luxury experience and a disappointing one is often built long before the first guest arrives.

The world's first fully automated restaurant in a box cooks 120 dishes an hour with no staff.

Technology like the Circus CA-1 is moving from concept to operational reality. For hotel kitchen design, that changes the brief, the infrastructure, the footprint, the utilities, and the workflow all need to be planned around what operators will actually be running in five years, not just today.

The kitchen being designed now is the one that will need to adapt to what's coming next.

The has just certified the world's first commercial vertiport for electric air taxi operations.

VDX, developed by Skyports Infrastructure and located adjacent to Dubai International Airport, is now cleared for eVTOL aircraft, a landmark moment for urban air mobility globally. Three more vertiports are already under development across Dubai.

We were proud to be part of this project.

Kryptonite Collider opens at Warner Bros. World Yas Island, Abu Dhabi on 26 July.

The region's largest indoor theme park, six immersive lands, world-class rides, and now a brand new DC-themed experience joining the lineup. Earlier this year, Warner Bros. World became the first theme park in the Middle East to win the Liseberg Applause Award, the most prestigious recognition in the global attractions industry.

It was an honour to have been part of this project. Watching it continue to grow is something else entirely.

The Middle East hotel construction pipeline hit a record 717 projects and 177,110 rooms in Q1 2026, a 13% increase in projects year-on-year, growing despite the onset of regional conflict at the end of February.

The pipeline isn't slowing.
The planning work behind it can't either.

Food waste accounts for up to 40% of a full-service hotel's carbon footprint.

That number isn't just an environmental stat, it shows up in energy bills, procurement costs, and increasingly, in the sustainability scores guests can now see on booking platforms.

The kitchens and waste systems designed today determine whether operators can meet the targets they've already committed to.
