BACKGROUND
International Chamber of Commerce in Afghanistan (ICC Afghanistan) represents the business community of Afghanistan at a global level and it complements and strengthens the activities of its members worldwide. At its 205th session, the World Council of the International Chamber of Commerce approved the creation of ICC Afghanistan. ICC Afghanistan endeavors to modernize the Afghanistan
industry, trade and services to world-class standards and encourage more domestic and foreign investment in Afghanistan. ICC Afghanistan represents ICC - world apex business organization in Afghanistan and facilitates the active participation of member organization, companies and individuals in the general activities of ICC. The members of ICC Afghanistan are local and regional chambers of commerce, trade & industry associations, companies and corporations and individuals. It is the entity, which makes it easier to do business internationally. ICC Afghanistan would expand the linkage of its members though the ICC network which directly and indirectly links with thousands of corporations and industrial and trade associations in over 130 countries. Keeping with its objectives of promoting liberalization in the country, accelerating flow of foreign investment and lowering tariff barriers to promote international trade, the ICC Afghanistan would play a crucial role in interacting with the Government of Afghanistan and business community on economic policies. As the process of economic reforms is gaining ground, it is emerging as a rallying point for Afghanistan business community in their effort towards globalization. ICC Afghanistan is the gateway, enabling Afghanistan industries to have access to the mind boggling body of information compiled, analyzed and interpreted by ICC. It is the distribution center for the valuable ICC publications which include: globally used rules and standards, practical model contracts and vital handbooks and guidelines. To strengthen multilaterals relations and to represent business community interests in a broad range of activities within the United Nations (UN), the World Trade Organization (WTO), the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), and many other intergovernmental bodies, to represent local business at global forums such as the World Summit on Sustainable Development, and to empower our members by providing advocacy, international networking opportunities and practical business tools;
To modernize the Afghanistan business activities to world-class standards;
To encourage investment (local, JV and FDI);
To promote Export of Afghanistan goods and services to international markets;
To assist the private sector to join the business network globally;
To foster self-regulation through the business sector;
