The GIMC Story... How we decided to truely put clients and Afghanistan first...
Afghanistan is at a critical juncture in it’s modern history... Peace talks, Presidential elections, economic development by focusing on private sector-led economic growth, and diversifying its global trade routes. All mutual accountability frameworks Afghanistan have signed call for private sector participation, results-based financing, transparency, and define a path to self-reliance. It’s this transition that we want to actively participate in, contribute to and learn from.
Salem Helali and Sayed Khalid Hashimi founded the Global Impact Management Consulting (GIMC), business and management consulting firm headquartered in the US in 2018. With their international development experience spanning more than 15 years, Salem and Sayed have worked with USAID/Afghanistan, UN, WB, GIZ, and other partners in Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Central Asia, Middle East, and the U.S.A. Highly motivated, fiercely results-oriented, and creative individuals; the former colleagues embarked on an ambitious journey to build their “dream”, put their skills, agility, experience and passion to work by starting a consulting business based in the US to serve businesses and communities in Afghanistan, and Afghans living the US.
Salem recently served as a Senior Technical Advisor at Creative Associates International in Washington D.C., for two years and Deputy Chief of Party and Chief of Party for over 13 years in Afghanistan. He has successfully managed the Youth Empowerment Program, Learning for Community Empowerment Program, and Afghanistan Workforce Development Program (AWDP); respectively valued at $113 million.
Recently, Khalid Hashimi served as a business development consultant at Creative Associates International based in Washington D.C., and previously served in USAID/Afghanistan as a Contract Officer Representative for over 4 years where he successfully lead and managed USAID’s largest agricultural value chain program valued $125+ million. His areas of expertise include project design and management, MSME, contract management, and agriculture value chains. Khalid Hashimi is also a seasoned a management systems review consultant.
