I never get grants, I shouldn’t apply for it
This is what a school owner messaged me, while he was telling me about how he’d submitted almost 10 grant proposal, but never heard back from any organisation.
I know, sometimes it feel demoralising when you have a need and you are unable to get the grant
But please understand that if you’re not getting the grant then their could be three mistakes from your side
The three biggest mistakes on your part could be
1. You’re not adhering the guidelines: Many a times we send the proposal without even reading the guidelines shared by the grant maker and this disqualifies your application.
2. You’re not checking the spam: yes you heard it right, many a times funding agencies write back to gain further information or even send you the confirmation but the email lands up in spam and since, you don’t check the spam, you loose on funding.
3. You’re not writing a compelling proposal: The main ingredient of any grant approval is a compelling proposal and if you’re not writing a grant winning proposal then that can be a bummer.
