📢 Albania steps up data protection enforcement.

After a quiet transition period following the new Data Protection Law (fully aligned with the GDPR), the Data Protection Commissioner has now shifted to active enforcement - with six fines issued in early 2026 alone, triple the number from last year. Key issues behind the penalties include missing security measures, unlawful processing, inadequate documentation, and lack of proper contracts with processors.

⚠️ What this means for businesses:
Compliance is no longer optional. Organizations should strengthen internal processes, ensure transparency, and embed data protection into their governance models.

💡 Increase of the minimum gross salary in Kosovo

🪙 Effective from 1 January 2026, the minimum gross salary in Kosovo will be increased from the current €350 to €425 per month for full-time work schedules, equal to €2.5 per standard working hour. Subsequently, effective from 1 July 2026, the minimum gross salary in Kosovo will be increased from €425 to €500 per month for full-time work schedules, equal to € 3 per standard working hour.
