🌍 𝐌𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 "𝐃𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐢𝐜 𝐀𝐧𝐱𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲": 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐟𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐦 𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐨𝐩𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬
How do we transform profound demographic shifts into opportunities for sustainable growth?
At the 𝟐𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐢𝐜 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 in Skopje, North Macedonia, political leaders and experts gathered to answer this exact question. Organized by the Government of North Macedonia in cooperation with the 𝐔𝐍𝐅𝐏𝐀 under the auspices of Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, the forum united over 200 high-ranking officials and international experts from 30+ countries to pioneer "𝐏𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞-𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐃𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐢𝐜 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞."
The region is facing divergent realities - from acute population shrinkage in parts of Eastern Europe to rapid growth and a "demographic dividend" in Central Asia. UNFPA leadership emphasized that the solution lies in "𝐃𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐢𝐜 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐲" and moving away from isolated, reactive interventions toward rights-based, evidence-driven public policy.
Ameria was proud to be at the forefront of this vital international dialogue. Tigran Jrbashyan, partner at Ameria , represented Armenia as a key speaker in Ministerial Panel Discussion 1, co-hosted by the European Union, entitled "𝘋𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘱𝘩𝘪𝘤 𝘛𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘗𝘶𝘣𝘭𝘪𝘤 𝘗𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘴: 𝘍𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦."
💡 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 & 𝐀𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐚 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐲 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐰𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝:
• 𝐀𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐚’𝐬 𝐁𝐥𝐮𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐭: Tigran Jrbashyan delivered a comprehensive overview of Armenia’s current demographic landscape and presented the core pillars of 𝐀𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐚’𝐬 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐢𝐜 𝐒𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, meticulously developed by the Ameria team.
• 𝐂𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐆𝐚𝐩: The panel underscored the absolute necessity of a "𝐰𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐞-𝐨𝐟-𝐠𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭" approach – seamlessly aligning social, health, economic, and fiscal policies so they are integrated effectively down to the local and community levels.
• 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐡𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞: UNFPA highlighted a significant "fertility gap" across low-fertility nations, showing that citizens often desire larger families but are hindered by structural barriers. The consensus was clear: state policies must focus on removing friction points – expanding the care economy, investing in human capital, and supporting youth to prevent outmigration.
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧: Demographic change is a global megatrend. To thrive, nations must shift toward true resilience – utilizing demographic intelligence to proactively project, adapt, and build inclusive societies that center on people's genuine aspirations.
The summit concluded with UNFPA announcing a new annual 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐮𝐦 to track progress, alongside the release of a specialized regional policy guide. At Ameria, we remain deeply dedicated to developing these robust, data-driven frameworks to ensure Armenia is fully equipped for a sustainable, resilient, and prosperous future.
