Green Construction & Sustainability: A Responsibility We Can No Longer Postpone in Armenia 🌿🏗️
The ecological situation in Armenia is deteriorating year by year, and the construction industry, one of the most impactful sectors, cannot remain outside this reality.
Today, a significant portion of construction works is still implemented:
🚨without proper EHS systems
🚨without an integrated project management approach, improvising on site
🚨without consistent compliance with construction norms and standards
This approach increases safety risks, damages the environment, and leads to inefficiencies, cost overruns and rework, contradicting any concept of sustainable development.
Why Green Construction Matters ♻️
Green and sustainable construction is not about trends or certifications alone. It is about:
🌍 protecting human life and health
🌍 reducing environmental impact
🌍 optimizing energy, materials, and resources
🌍 planning across the full lifecycle of a building
🌍 creating controlled, predictable, and transparent construction processes
Armenia needs a new construction culture, one where:
🕰️ projects operate like a clock mechanism
👥 everyone knows their role, place, and timing
🔄 information flows clearly between all stakeholders
📐 norms and international standards are embedded from the planning stage, not added later
🛡️ safety, environment, quality, and cost are managed as one integrated system
This means moving away from improvisation and toward structured planning that aligns with international best practices 🌐.
Transforming the construction industry cannot be achieved by one party alone. It requires shared responsibility:
🏛️ commitment from clients and developers
🏗️ discipline from contractors and subcontractors
📑 clarity and enforcement by regulatory bodies
🎯 accountability from project managers and consultants
Only through joint effort can Armenian construction reach an international level, protect people, and reduce its environmental footprint.
Sustainable construction is no longer optional.
It is a responsibility, and the time to act is now.
