Welcoming Kianí del Valle!
We are thrilled to announce our new collaboration with Kianí del Valle. Born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and now based between Berlin, Los Angeles, and the Caribbean, Del Valle has devoted over two decades to cultivating a transdisciplinary practice that integrates contemporary dance, visual arts, film, installation, and sound.
Her work, deeply rooted in ritual, intuitive movement, and physical endurance, explores the human condition and enigmatic dimensions of existence through the lens of Caribbean and Latin American experiences, situated within a global context.
Del Valle navigates fluidly across radical club performances, theater, museum settings, and the grandest stages in entertainment, rejecting any hierarchy among these platforms. For her, the frame may shift, the practice doesn’t: politics emerge the moment personal experience becomes visible, whether in an underground club or before an audience of millions.
On September 9 & 13, Del Valle will premiere INSTRUCCIONES PARA EXISTIR with her own ensemble, KDV Performance Group. Commissioned by Neue Nationalgalerie & TONO Mexico, as part of the PERFORM! festival, this work investigates the tension between control and chaos, as well as authority and resistance.
In addition, on September 11th, Kianí will present Hamburger Bahnhof - Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart her solo DE BRUJAS Y FANTASMAS with the live sound score by Ziúr , making her one of the only artists to be presenting work at two major institutions over the Berlin Art Week
