Hi, I’m Bernadette - and with a lot of new faces here, it felt like a good moment to reintroduce myself.

I’m currently on my way back to Vienna after a few intense and beautiful days in New York, where we took part in the Brooklyn Fine Art Print Fair for the second time. The photo was taken there - in the middle of it all.

I’m the founder and artistic director of Viadukt Screen Prints, an open screen printing studio in Vienna that I started in 2008. It’s a place where artists come together to experiment, print, exchange ideas, and build something over time.

Alongside the studio, I curate the exhibition series , where we explore screen printing within contemporary art and create space for dialogue between artists and audiences.

My journey with printmaking started during my studies and deepened through time spent at in NYC - a place that shaped a lot of what I do today.

At Viadukt, we also produce and present editions — works that make collecting art more accessible, whether you’re just starting out or already engaged with printmaking.

Outside of all this, I’m also a mom and an art educator - and still very much drawn to the tactile, hands-on nature of the process.

If you’re new here - welcome ✨
And if you’re curious about the studio, the editions, or printmaking in general, feel free to reach out anytime.

What I find particularly interesting about screen printing is that it allows different media to come together - from photography to drawing, from painting to sculpture.”

We’re excited to present new works by Michael Wegerer at this year’s Brooklyn Fine Art Print Fair.

Michael has spent the past two weeks in New York for a micro residency at - and today we’re installing the new works developed during his time in the printshop.

Listen to Michael talk about his approach to screen printing and the production of his works.

Come by and see the works in person.

There’s something special about this fair.

It’s the people - the ones visiting, the ones working, the ones making.

Different backgrounds, different languages, people from all over -
and still, there’s an instant connection.

Not so much through words, more through how we look at things, how we respond to them.

Paper, ink, layers, process -
there’s a quiet connection in all of this.

That’s what we’re most looking forward to.
The conversations, the encounters, the feeling of being part of something that connects us across places.

See you over the next days.

“Working in a microscopic world changed how I see everything - what fascinates me is making the invisible visible.”

Denise Schellmann is a Vienna-based artist working between drawing and screen printing. Coming from a background in pharmaceutical chemistry, her work is deeply rooted in the microscopic - in the smallest structures that make up our world.

What drives her practice is the idea of making the invisible visible. Rather than illustrating what she sees, she translates it into her own visual language - somewhere between scientific observation and intuitive process.

Screen printing becomes the space where these two worlds meet: analytical and open, controlled and unpredictable.

We’re very happy that Denise is currently our artist in residence - and will be in New York during the fair to speak about her work in person.

Come by, take a closer look, and ask questions.

“In my artistic production, I like to work in modules - drawings, paintings, paper collages, and different printing techniques. Depending on the context, I combine these elements in different ways.”
