Capgemini Austria collected 100 kilograms of waste during River Cleanup event on Vienna's Danube Island. As part of the River Cleanup Initiative, the team from Capgemini Austria conducted a cleanup event on Vienna's Danube Island. The purpose of this initiative was to raise awareness about environmental pollution and contribute towards a cleaner and more sustainable way of living.
Globally, approximately 11 billion kilograms of plastic enter our oceans each year, a significant portion of which comes through river channels. In an effort to combat this problem, the environmental organization River Cleanup has made it their mission to encourage as many people as possible to remove foreign waste through various cleanup initiatives. The intention is to raise awareness about the issue and make each individual part of the solution.
Participating in the River Cleanup event on Vienna's Danube Island underscores our efforts to set an example in ensuring a sustainable future. We consider it our duty to actively contribute to the solution of global environmental challenges. Raising awareness about environmental issues in our society is essential in this regard. The River Cleanup event was part of the Capgemini Green IT Challenge, in which 10,000 kilograms of plastic waste have already been removed from the Citarum River in Indonesia in the past.
