𝗔𝗔𝗖𝗖𝗜 𝘅 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 | Strengthening Business Connections Between South Australia and Asia

On 6 May 2026, 澳亚工商总会 | AACCI met with the South Australia Business Chamber to discuss a new phase of collaboration focused on membership engagement, business growth, and international trade opportunities.

The meeting brought together representatives from both organisations, including Andrew, Kendall, Maggie, Nikki Richardson, and Ivan Kaukov, to explore practical ways to strengthen connections between South Australian businesses and Asian markets.

The discussions focused on a proposed Joint Membership Launch and broader cooperation across areas including:

• Trade and investment facilitation
• Business delegations and international market access
• Cross-membership benefits and member engagement
• Housing and prefabricated construction initiatives
• Renewable energy, agribusiness, logistics, and advanced manufacturing
• Innovation, skills development, and workforce capability
• Sustainability, ESG, and low-carbon opportunities
• Cultural engagement and bilateral business promotion
• Digital collaboration and business opportunity platforms

This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to creating stronger pathways for South Australian businesses to engage internationally while supporting Asian enterprises investing in South Australia.

The opportunity is significant.

China remains Australia’s largest export market, accounting for close to one-third of Australia’s total exports annually. For South Australia, China has been our largest trading partner for approximately 17 consecutive years, with exports valued at around $4 billion annually — more than double the size of many other key international markets.

Key South Australian exports to China continue to include:
• Agriculture and food
• Wine
• Minerals and resources
• Manufacturing and professional services

As global markets continue to evolve, strong partnerships, practical engagement, and trusted business networks will play an increasingly important role in supporting sustainable economic growth.

AACCI looks forward to continuing to work closely with the South Australia Business Chamber to deliver meaningful opportunities, stronger business connections, and long-term outcomes for members and stakeholders across both regions.

South Australia - Shandong | 40 Years of Partnership, Moving into Action

AACCI is proud to lead a South Australian business delegation to Linyi, Shandong, this April for the 5th RCEP (Shandong) Import & Export Expo (20–22 April 2026).

This year is particularly significant as we mark the 40th anniversary of the sister-state relationship between South Australia and Shandong Province. It is not just a milestone, but a moment to turn long-standing relationships into tangible outcomes.

Through the South Australia Pavilion, AACCI will showcase a diverse range of capabilities, including:
• Premium wine and spirits
• Prefabricated and modular construction solutions
• Health food, Manuka honey and nutritional products
• Education and international exchange
• Tourism and cultural engagement
• Investment and professional services

Building on our continued participation in major platforms such as CIIE and the RCEP Expo, AACCI remains focused on delivering practical, structured, and outcome-driven cooperation between Australia and China.

Following the successful renewal of the sister-city relationship between Linyi and the City of Salisbury in 2025, and with deeper institutional alignment now in place, we see strong opportunities ahead across trade, investment, culture, and industry.

Looking forward, AACCI will continue to:
• Support Linyi enterprises in entering the Australian market by organising up to 100 government-led Linyi trade delegations and facilitating the Shandong Linyi Trade Expo in South Australia
• Explore the establishment of a Linyi Product Display Centre in South Australia
• Strengthen cultural exchange through the OzAsia Festival by bringing large-scale, culturally themed lantern installations from Linyi to feature in the OzAsia Lantern Trail
• Advance prefabricated construction and building supply chain collaboration to address Australia’s housing challenges

This is where long-term relationships meet real projects.

AACCI Celebrates 30th Anniversary at “Shanghai Night” Lunar New Year Gala in Adelaide

The Australian Asian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AACCI) hosted its 2026 Lunar New Year Gala “Shanghai Night” on 6 March 2026 at the Hilton Adelaide, marking the Chamber’s 30th anniversary. The evening brought together leaders from government, business, industry associations and the multicultural community to celebrate cooperation, cultural exchange and future opportunities.

In his address, Ivan Kaukov, President of AACCI, reflected on the Chamber’s three decades of work in strengthening connections between Australia and Asia, particularly with China, and in providing a practical platform for business, community, and international engagement. Looking ahead, AACCI will continue to expand partnerships and facilitate deeper cooperation between South Australia and Asia.

The event featured addresses from distinguished guests including The Hon. Joe Szakacs MP, South Australian Minister for Trade and Investment; The Hon. Louise Miller-Frost MP, Federal Member for Boothby.

The evening combined celebration with cultural presentation, featuring a traditional lion dance, Shanghai-inspired performances and interactive activities including a charity auction and prize draw.

The gala was supported by several partners, with China Eastern Airlines, AUTA Group and Patritti Wines serving as Platinum Sponsors. China Eastern Airlines also shared plans to launch direct flights between Adelaide and Shanghai from June, further strengthening business, tourism and people-to-people connections between the two cities.

As AACCI enters its fourth decade, the Chamber reaffirmed its commitment to supporting trade, investment and cultural engagement, continuing to build stronger links between South Australia and Asia through practical cooperation and trusted partnerships.

Honouring a Decade of Commitment to Australia–China Economic Cooperation

Sydney, 22 May 2025 – The Australian Asian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AACCI) was honoured with the prestigious “Best Contribution Award” at the 10th Anniversary Celebration of the China–Australia Free Trade Agreement (ChAFTA) Forum, held at the Parliament House of New South Wales. The award was personally presented by The Hon Andrew Robb, former Australian Minister for Trade and Investment and a key architect of the ChAFTA framework.

This accolade recognises AACCI’s outstanding role in promoting bilateral trade and investment, strengthening business engagement, and building long-standing bridges between Australia and China over the past decade.

As the most active Asian chamber in South Australia, AACCI has consistently led high-level trade delegations, co-hosted major international expos, and facilitated strategic cooperation in trade and investment, as well as in the wine, green energy, advanced manufacturing, education, tourism, and agri-food industries.

AACCI President Ivan Kaukov expressed gratitude for the recognition:
“This award symbolises our shared commitment to Australia–China relations and the tireless efforts of our members. It is both an honour and a responsibility as we look ahead to the next decade of deeper engagement and innovation.”

AACCI extends its sincere thanks to the ChAFTA Forum, especially Ms. Sophy Liu, for the successful organisation of this milestone event. The award reflects not only AACCI’s work to date, but also its strategic vision for the future.

With the momentum of ChAFTA, AACCI will continue to empower Australian and Chinese enterprises to grow together, bridging opportunities across economies, industries and cultures.
