Big feelings | Brave hearts.
🔨💚💪🏼

Mikayla and Loz headed to the smash room for an outing that held a whole lot more than broken crockery.

There were big emotions. Things to let go of. And a few messages for life that our marketing department has politely translated to “you can’t post that” 😂 (oopsey)

Some days, the hard stuff is difficult to put into words.
On this day, some of those words went onto plates.

“I can do hard things.”

“Better days are coming.”

Among a few cheeky words were deeper reminders worth holding onto, even after the plates were gone.

This experience gave Mikayla and Loz space to feel, to let go and share vulnerable moments together while navigating challenging times and the big feelings often associated with them.

There was tears, there was laughter but there was also hope, hope that brighter days were near.

One outing doesn’t make everything disappear. But having someone beside you, someone you can be yourself with through all those hard & difficult to navigate feelings, matters.

At Among the Gumtrees, you don’t have to put on a brave face to deserve care. You can have a hard day, a messy day, an “I’ve f@&king had enough, get the eff away from me” day and still be met with kindness.

We know you are more than your hardest days.
We don’t walk away from complexity.
We wrap our arms around it and figure it out together, your way, safely & compassionately.

Mikayla, thank you for letting us walk beside you. Loz, thank you for bringing the heart.

This fantastic event has been held across Australia for over 40 years now & is a place where children living with disabilities & complex needs can experience the magic of Christmas and have a day where they get to leave their daily challenges at the door & they just get to be kids for a while.

Here we get to treat 1300 invited children to a day full of free activities, food, music & even a special visit from the big man himself, so he can deliver each child 3 individually selected presents for them to take home.

This one’s for all truck lovers, junior tradies and mini builders. Touch a Truck is roaring into the heart of Salisbury on Saturday 10 October from 10am to 3pm.

Touch a Truck is a free community fun day at Salisbury Civic Plaza (Inparrinthi Kumangka) packed with activities, stalls, food, drinks and live entertainment.

Get up close to some exciting trucks and vehicles, including diggers, SA State Emergency Service Rescue trucks, South Australia Police water operations jet skis, and so much more.

Discover hands-on fun with Junior Tradies construction themed activities, rock climbing, jumping castles, and go-karts.

We’re sharing this wonderful opportunity from Wesley Mission, offering eligible people the chance to create a Will online for free.

Having a valid Will helps ensure your wishes are recorded, your loved ones are considered and the things that matter to you are protected.

If you’re an Among The Gumtrees participant and would like support to complete your Will online, our support workers can assist you with:

🌿 Accessing and navigating the online service
🌿 Using a computer, tablet or phone
🌿 Reading information aloud or supporting communication needs
🌿 Gathering the information you may need
🌿 Typing information exactly as you direct
🌿 Arranging any follow-up steps or witnessing requirements

Your Will, decisions and personal information remain completely your own. Our workers can provide practical and accessibility support, but cannot choose what goes into your Will or provide legal advice.

Our beautiful participant, Jacinta, is raising funds for pancreatic cancer research in loving memory of her precious Mumma, Julie. 💜

Throughout September, Jacinta will walk and run an incredible 78 kilometres and she would be so grateful for your support. Every donation, share and word of encouragement will help her honour her mum’s memory and make a difference for families affected by pancreatic cancer.
