JK 2024 Barossa Valley Grenache 'Dad's Block'
93 Points, Halliday Wine Companion
Named after James' late father, “Dad's Block” comes from the centenarian Grenache vineyard surrounding the Barossa stone cottage where James grew up.
Nearly four decades later, he has returned to these same vines to create a wine that celebrates both this remarkable 1925-planted vineyard and the memories it holds.
Hand-harvested and matured in clay jarres, seasoned French oak and new French oak, the wine is crafted with patience and restraint, allowing the individuality of “Dad's Block” to shine through.
“Raspberry-flecked red plum and red and dark cherry fruits with underlying exotic spice, citrus blossom, cranberry, crushed herbs and wildflowers. There's an elasticity and suppleness to the palate, with fine tannins and a nice crunch to the acidity."
— Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion
