Established under the Wine Australia Act 2013, it is a Commonwealth Government statutory authority. National Biosecurity Week presents an opportunity to highlight the importance of early warning systems and risk-based decision-making to help Australian agriculture stay one step ahead of emerging pests and diseases.

As a member of the Plant Biosecurity Research Initiative, Wine Australia is supporting collaborative research that is strengthening Australia’s plant biosecurity capability and preparedness.

This includes initiatives focused on improving early detection, coordination and response to emerging threats. 🐛

Effective biosecurity relies on understanding risks, receiving timely information and acting early when threats emerge. It was a valuable opportunity to come together as a sector and explore the data, insights and future-facing outlooks shaping Australian wine across key global markets.

Around 250 industry participants joined us to hear from speakers covering the UK/EU, Americas and Asia Pacific regions, as well as consumer insights specialists who challenged us to think differently about where wine shows up and where it has the opportunity to grow.

A key theme throughout the day was clear: demand has changed, not disappeared. As consumers seek new and different occasions and experiences, Australian wine has the opportunity to adapt and capture value in new ways.
