🐝 One of the biggest bee rescues we’ve ever completed at House Care Pest Control!

Last week, we safely removed this incredible hive from a home in Redwood Park, Adelaide, where it had been established for more than 10 years. The colony is now safe and thriving with a local beekeeper, and we’re expecting to recover around 20kg of honey from the rescue. 🍯

A special thank you to the homeowner for meeting us halfway and choosing bee relocation over eradication. By working together, we were able to safely remove and rehome this colony instead of destroying it. It’s decisions like these that help protect Adelaide’s precious pollinators and make a real difference.

Hi, my name is Werner from House care Pest Control, based in St Agnes SA and I’ve been rescuing bees for about four years now 🐝

I specialise in complex removals and I’m listed on the BSSA. Over time I’ve found myself spending more and more time with the bees, something I truly love.

But along the way, I’ve been stung many times… and unfortunately, I’ve developed an allergy.

Because of that, I invested in what’s supposed to be one of the best bee suits on the market, hoping it would allow me to keep rescuing bees safely.

It has definitely reduced the number of stings compared to my old suit… but I’m still getting stung occasionally, like today. And now, even a single sting can trigger serious breathing episodes. I also spray repellent before each job but still got stung.

So I wanted to reach out to the community and experienced Beekeepers:

👉 Is there a more reliable bee suit available in Australia that offers better protection?
👉 Any recommendations for gear, layering, or techniques to prevent stings completely?

I truly want to keep doing this work. But if I can’t find a safer solution, I may have to step away from rescuing bees, which would be incredibly hard for me.

Any advice or guidance would mean a lot 🙏
