Revisiting a project completed some 10 years ago provided some interesting insights into materials used with strawbale walls.
A contrasting material to soft rendered strawbale walls was the use of "Austen" steel cladding. A material that has been manufactured to "rust" and form a permanent weather proof finish.
Internally the client has expert experience in rendering of strawbale walls here in South Australia as well as earth walls.
The feature "column" wall is lime plaster with a stone effective pattern and coloured with Giorgio Graeson bases and tints.
Other finishes include "Rockcote" Velvtine.

Our Latest Strawbale project
Additions and alterations to an existing strawbale home.
There are several steps to take to provide a certified project:
1. Check that existing home has been built to previous documentation
2. Review the Approval Documents - this may be both architectural/engineering (and any reports)/wastewater/CFS
3. Obtain a survey of the existing home and any services.
4. Check with regulations if there have been any changes.

Now the time for preparing of Design Drawings with particular attention to orientation and microclimate.

Renovation project for sale
Following several stages of developing an interesting State Heritage listed project - the clients have decided to sell.
