Today, we honour Pancasila Day and the values that continue to unite Indonesia through its rich diversity of cultures, communities, and traditions.
At the heart of Pancasila is a belief in unity, humanity, mutual respect, and social justice. Principles that remind us that strong communities are built through connection and shared purpose.
These values are deeply reflected in the Banda Islands, where generations of farming families have carefully cultivated the spices that have shaped Indonesia’s history and connected people across the world.
Many of the Banda Islands' nutmeg trees have long been nurtured beneath the shade of native Kanari trees, a living reminder of the connections between land, people, and tradition. Like the strong roots of the Kanari, the values of community, cooperation, and shared purpose continue to support and sustain life across the islands.
As we celebrate Pancasila Day, we acknowledge the growers, families, and communities who continue to steward this remarkable heritage. Their knowledge, resilience, and care are the foundation of every harvest and every spice we share.
From the birthplace of nutmeg, mace, and cloves, we are proud to honour the people, traditions, and values that make the Spice Islands so extraordinary.
Selamat Hari Lahir Pancasila.
