Rugby in the regions just got another boost!

Last week, Roma hosted the sixth Santos Festival of Rugby, bringing Queensland and NSW teams, Vintage Reds and Classic Wallabies, and local clubs together for two days of first-class rugby and community spirit.

Now we're building on that. Together with QRU, we'll bring back a new-look Santos Reds To Regions program, so Reds players, staff and alumni can once again bring first-rate rugby experiences to communities across Queensland.

From the Roma Echidnas to the Queensland Reds, we're proud to back the game at every level.

Shared effort, greater impact
Across PNG, Santos in Papua New Guinea employees are helping turn locally led ideas into real change through the Santos Foundation Small Grants Program.

Since its launch in 2016, the Small Grants Program has supported more than 390 community led projects across PNG, benefiting over 28,000 people and reflecting stronger processes and growing community contributions.

From school‑fee relief in Morobe to improved water access in Hela and solar lighting in Manus, each project shows the power of locally led development supported by Santos staff.

You bet it is.... The Santos Festival of Rugby is back at Gallas Fox Park, Roma, this 18–19 September, and once again it's proving Tim right.

From free Friday-night street party vibes to junior coaching clinics, women's Sevens action, and the Reds taking on the Waratahs in both men's and women's fixtures — all battling it out for the Santos Cup and $25,000 in prize money — this weekend is a celebration of everything country rugby stands for.

While their classes may be online, the students from Katherine School of the Air still get to meet up with their classmates 4-5 times a year – they just have one thing missing. A playground!

When Santos heard these students were on a mission to build their own playground we decided to partner with Katherine School of the Air and put $60,000 towards this student-led project — bringing a shared vision to life for students and families across remote pastoral communities in the Northern Territory.

Our Northern Territory community team joined students, families and staff in Katherine to mark this milestone with a community BBQ and school assembly.

At Santos, supporting regional communities in the areas where we operate is central to who we are. This playground is one of the ways we play our small part in creating spaces where young people can learn, play and thrive.

👋Meet Danny – a familiar face at Port Bonython

Danny started with Santos at Port Bonython in 1983, when our site was under construction, even before the jetty was built!

More than four decades later, Danny is one of Santos’ longest-serving employees, having worked across a range of roles including operator, unit controller, load master and supervisor.

But ask Danny what he enjoys most about his career, and his answer comes back to the people. Over the years, he’s supported colleagues building skills and lifelong careers at Santos. He’s raised his family here and has been active part of the Whyalla community.

We’re proud to shine a light on people like Danny who help shape our workplace and the communities around us.
