On Tuesday 28th April, World Day for Safety at Work and International Workers Memorial Day, Michelle Rath spoke to the team at PLP Australia in Sydney.

In line with International Workers Memorial Day, Michelle started the day with one minute silence to honour those who have lost their lives at work.
The room was silent and she felt very humbled by the willingness of workers to partake in such a special request.

We have a meaningful relationship with the CEPU SA and appreciate their support

The CEPU are proud to announce the winner of the Alex Rath commitment to safety award at the annual PEER apprentice awards night is Aidan Coleman. Well done Aidan!

The award is presented every year by Alex's parents Rob and Michelle Rath, and also this year by CEPU power industry organiser Max Mawby in honour and memoriam of Alex Rath, a Peer apprentice who passed away in 2013.

The CEPU are very proud to sponsor the Alex Rath commitment to safety award which recognises a Peer apprentice for excellence in safety through out the year.

𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲 𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗵'𝘀 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗕𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹 – 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿

Michelle yesterday spoke at Boral Cement's Safety Conference in Mittagong and it was genuinely uplifting to see how aligned their team already is with the message we share.

She talked through "Alex’s Story" and it was clear the room really connected with the reminder that safety isn’t just about the big, high-risk jobs — the simple, everyday tasks need the same level of care because they can have life-changing consequences too.

Thanks to Shaun Cahill from Boral for inviting Michelle to tell her story and sharing that this really resonated with the group. It was great to see a team so committed to looking out for each other. Moments like this remind us exactly why we keep having these conversations — because they make a real difference.

⚡ Today was a significant milestone for workplace safety — Safety For All Reasons, in collaboration with the CEPU SA Max Mawby and Chris Green, have been awarded the 2025 Augusta Zadow Grant to deliver initiatives aimed at reducing and ultimately eliminating electrical shocks across workplaces.” I am so proud at where this is headed and to continue in making a difference.
