Had surgery? Recovering from a C-section? Working on scar healing?

One of the questions I'm often asked is how to best support scar recovery once the wound has healed.

BIEN Silicone Scar Strips are designed to help reduce redness, improve texture, soften scar tissue and support healthy healing over time.

The best results come from consistency, which is why I've put together this quick video to show you exactly how I recommend using them.

If you're currently navigating scar recovery and have questions about what might be right for you, please get in touch. Every scar and every healing journey is different.

Labour prep that actually feels doable 🤍

There’s so much information out there when you're preparing for birth, and it can be hard to know where to start.

Simple things like perineal massage, supportive birth positions, breath work, and learning to soften and lengthen through contractions can help you feel more confident, informed, and connected to your body as you prepare to welcome your baby.

No overwhelm. No pressure. Just practical, evidence-informed tools you can start exploring at your own pace.

If you're getting ready to meet your little one, my Preparing for Childbirth Book is a beautiful place to begin.

Living with persistent pelvic pain can be exhausting. It can affect your body, your mood, your relationships, your sleep, and your confidence.

One tool that may help is mindfulness.

Mindfulness isn't about "emptying your mind" or pretending your pain isn't there. It's about learning to bring your attention back to the present moment, rather than getting caught up in worries about the future or frustration about the past.

Research suggests that mindfulness meditation may help reduce pain intensity, improve sleep, support emotional wellbeing, and lessen the impact pain has on day-to-day life.

Like any skill, mindfulness takes practice. Some days it might simply mean pausing to notice your breathing, feeling your feet on the ground, or taking a moment to tune into your surroundings.

When we learn to respond to pain with curiosity rather than fear, we can begin to change our relationship with it.

Pain may still be present, but it doesn't have to control every moment of your day.

Have you ever tried mindfulness as part of your pain management journey?

Preparing for birth? 🤍

The Perineal Massage Egg is designed to support gentle perineal massage by promoting blood flow, relaxation and flexibility of the perineal tissues. It features an ergonomic design, 10 vibration settings and is fully waterproof for ease of use.

Perineal massage is often recommended during the later stages of pregnancy and may help prepare the body for birth by increasing tissue flexibility and helping you become more familiar with the sensations of stretching.

If you're curious whether the Perineal Massage Egg is right for you, or you'd like guidance on preparing your pelvic floor for birth, I'd love to help.

Available via the online shop.

Don't worry I'm not inventing the latest fashion trend, these are the safety glasses we need to wear when delivering LASER therapy.

You may not be aware, but we have a LASER machine here in clinic that I can use as a treatment tool to support healing and reduce pain following birth and breastfeeding challenges.

Low-level LASER may be used to help manage:
• Cracked or painful ni***es associated with breastfeeding
• Perineal tears
• Episiotomy scars
• Perineal wound healing
• Sensitive or painful scar tissue after birth

LASER works by delivering light energy to the tissues, which may help support tissue repair, improve circulation and reduce inflammation and pain. Treatment is non-invasive, quick and generally comfortable.

For breastfeeding mothers, LASER may help settle pain and support the healing of damaged ni**le tissue, making feeding more manageable while addressing contributing factors such as latch, positioning and feeding mechanics.

For perineal and episiotomy scars, LASER may help reduce scar sensitivity, discomfort with sitting or movement, and support tissue healing in the early postpartum period.

Importantly, LASER is only one part of treatment. A pelvic health physiotherapist will also assess factors such as pelvic floor function, scar mobility, pressure management, feeding support / referral to a lactation consultant and overall recovery to provide individualised care.

Feel free to reach out or contact me if you are wondering if LASER may help you with your recovery.
