This past long weekend, Habitat Planning was proud to support the Pub To Pelican run in the beautiful Upper Murray as gold sponsor of the marathon event, the Habitat Planning Marathon.

Beginning at the Bethanga Hotel and finishing at Pelican Park on the shores of Lake Hume in Tallangatta, the event brought together runners of all abilities and showed them some of the most stunning and wide-open landscapes of the region.

Established following the 2019–20 bushfires, Pub to Pelican was created to support Upper Murray communities affected by the devastation of the Black Summer fires. It stands as a powerful reminder of the resilience of regional communities and what can be achieved when people come together.

This year, more than 700 participants took part across the marathon, half marathon, 10km and 3km events, making it the biggest event to date.

We were pleased to support an initiative that gives back to a region which supports us and many of our team know well, through each work, home life and community connections.

Congratulations to the organisers, volunteers, fellow sponsors and event participants who enjoyed and challenged themselves on the day, including our senior consultant, Shannon, who flew the flag for our team. It was a fantastic event and we're grateful to have been involved.

Look forward to sharing in the fun with this incredible community next year!

Wishing all those lacing up for the events this morning the best of luck and an enjoyable run/walk. Particularly those taking on the Marathon!

We’re so pleased to be able to support incredible community initiatives like these that bring people together to share in some fun, all the while celebrating and supporting the resilience of the beautiful Upper Murray.

A special mention to our senior consultants, Brendan and Shannon, who are flying the flag for our team in the 10 km event.

Enjoy and go hard!

We’re celebrating 30 years in business this year, and we certainly wouldn’t be here without the many capable hands that have supported us, and continue to support us in this wonderful and wild adventure — the privilege that is planning the regions.

This frame alone represents 4 businesses who have been with us throughout the years, each playing a formative role in our brand and how we present and position ourselves — premium yet approachable, high quality and professional. A partner you can trust.

With much thanks always, to , .au, and ✨✨

We’re pleased to share that we recently secured planning approval for a medium-density residential development in Wodonga, on behalf of local builder,

The approved development comprises 14 single-storey dwellings, including a mix of two and three-bedroom homes, which supports increased housing diversity in Wodonga. It's of contemporary design and incorporates a cohesive material palette of brickwork, cladding and neutral finishes, and is complemented by landscaping throughout the site.

Habitat provided comprehensive planning and advisory services throughout the project, including pre-lodgement discussions with Council, detailed preparation of the planning application and coordination of supporting consultant material.

This was a meaningful project to be involved in, and we congratulate all who played a role in achieving this positive planning outcome, contributing to thoughtfully designed, low-maintenance housing within the Wodonga region.

This week we say ‘bon voyage’ to our long-serving Wagga Wagga based consultant, Patrice, as she embarks on her next adventure.

Over the past five years, Patrice has made a significant contribution to Habitat Planning and the continued growth and development of the Riverina and beyond.

Wise beyond her years, she played an instrumental role in helping guide the business through a challenging transition period, all the while, remained a reliable presence for clients throughout that time.

A proud Wagga local, Patrice has shared how rewarding it’s been to witness the continued growth and evolution of her home region, and we’re proud that her work has helped shape that change.

During her time with Habitat, Patrice has played an important role in progressing a diverse range of projects and securing development approvals across an impressive portfolio, including a multi-level residential and commercial development in Wagga Wagga, renewable energy facilities, a new school in Moama and several complex residential subdivisions.

We’re most grateful for Patrice’s contribution, positivity and professionalism these past years, and we wish her every success in what comes next.

Wishing our Habitat mums and partners, and all the mums in their many roles a beautiful Mother's Day today.

To the role models, shining lights and motherly figures, the not yet mums and should be mums, the mums in waiting, the mums watching from afar and those mums with their own angels too, and the fur mamas of course — today is for you.

We hope your day is as wonderful as you are 💛

Late last month our wonderful administration assistant, Georgia, ticked over 2 years at Habitat.

This capable lady knows no bounds from an organisational front and very much supports the runnings of Habitat in many facets, day in, day out.

From being the friendliest of first impressions for our clients, to coordinating a busy schedule of calendars and competing priorities across 4 offices, lending a willing hand in process improvements, supporting financial matters and the project teams, and ensuring the snack station and sugar high is well stocked on the daily — each with a smile.

Congrats on this milestone Georgia. We are so grateful for your efforts, which certainly don't go unnoticed. Thank you, and here's to many more! ✨

This year marks 30 years of Habitat Planning.

Founded in 1996, the consultancy was built on a simple idea; that regional communities deserve access to high-quality planning services. It’s a vision that continues to underpin our work today.

This milestone also marks 15 years under the directorship of David Hunter. Throughout the decades, we’ve had the opportunity to contribute to a wide range of projects across the regions. From residential developments and community infrastructure through to education, health, hospitality and industrial projects, each project plays an important role in shaping how our communities grow, function and support the people who live there.

What has always set Habitat apart is its connection to place. Our team lives and works in the communities we serve. We understand regional life firsthand — the beauty of the wide open spaces, and the opportunities and its quirks, because it’s our way of life, too.

In recent years, we’ve grown beyond our beginnings in Albury to establish a presence in each Wagga Wagga, Echuca and Canberra, building locally based teams to better support these expanding regions.

We’re incredibly grateful to our clients and our generous project partners and team, past and present, who have been part of the Habitat story so far. It’s a milestone we’re particularly proud of, and one that reflects the shared contributions of many throughout the years.

The future is bright — here’s to the next 30! ✨
