Meet Sharon and Steven Hedger. The founders of Hedger Constructions.
Sharon and Steven met in Alexandra in 1986 as teenagers, and have been inseparable ever since. In 1998, Steven and Sharon founded Hedger Constructions in Alexandra, combining their complementary strengths to create the foundations of the business. Steven brought his expertise in construction and craftsmanship, while Sharon's strong background in finance, accounts and administration ensured the business was built on solid financial foundations. Together, they formed the perfect partnership delivering exceptional homes while building a company designed to stand the test of time.
Almost 30 years later, and they are still a dynamic duo behind their family business. Through 30+ MBAV awards, and an expansion to the Surf Coast and Melbourne, they have proven themselves to be reliable and quality builders, but not without the help of every single staff member, supplier or trade contributing along the way.
When we say family business, we really mean it. Steven's brothers, Bradley and Rodney are both involved through Estimating and Site Supervision, whilst Steven and Sharon's children, Isaac and Ellie, are both involved in the Project Management and Marketing of the company. Though it doesn’t stop at family by blood. We believe the suppliers, trades and our staff that have been alongside us on our journey are all part of our family. They are our backbone.
Steven and Sharon love every moment of the build process, but if you asked them for their favourite part? The people. Learning about and connecting with people, whether that is a new trade, a staff member, a client, an architect or simply a first enquiry. They value the stories and learnings of the people they engage with.
