This National Volunteer Week, the Alexandra Fire Brigade would like to say a heartfelt thank you to all of our incredible volunteers.

From our dedicated firefighters who respond day and night to protect our community, to the volunteers in the Auxiliary who keep us all fed and looked after, as well as our Fire equipment maintenance team, who all work tirelessly behind the scenes. Your commitment, courage and generosity do not go unnoticed.

Every call attended, every training night, every fundraiser, every community event, and every helping hand makes a difference. Our brigade simply could not operate without the passion and dedication of our volunteers.

Thank you for the countless hours you give to our community and our brigade. We are proud to stand alongside such an amazing team.

Happy National Volunteer Week! ❤️🚒

Lest we forget.

🚨 A timely reminder 🚨

Our brigade was paged to two separate incidents today involving properties with smoke alarms sounding. Thankfully, both situations were investigated and found to be safe.

As we head into the cooler months, it’s the perfect time to check your smoke alarms. Make sure they’re in date and fitted with fresh batteries — it could save your life.

🚒 Alexandra Fire Brigade – Fire Medical Response 🚑

From tomorrow, the Alexandra Fire Brigade is proud to be officially online as part of the CFA / Ambulance Victoria Co-Responder Program – Fire Medical Response (FMR).

This means that when you call Triple Zero (000) for a cardiac-related emergency, you may now receive a response from both Ambulance Victoria and your local CFA brigade.

Our members have been training extensively, completing multiple weekends of hands on training along with dedicated theory sessions. They’ve worked hard to develop the skills and confidence needed to deliver the best possible care to our community under this new program.

While we hope these skills are rarely needed, we are ready to respond alongside Ambulance Victoria when it matters most.

If you see a CFA appliance responding with lights and sirens within the township, but there hasn’t been a VicEmergency notification, please be aware we may be attending a medical emergency.

📅 This program goes live from the 8th of April.

Your safety is, and always will be, our priority.

Sadly, we are not waking up to the Easter morning we had hoped for.

We are incredibly disappointed to report that within the last 48 hours, the Terip Terip CFA Station was broken into and robbed of vital life-saving equipment.

It is deeply disheartening to see this happen to a community that recently faced the devastating Longwood fire and is still working hard to rebuild and recover.

Our volunteers give so much—leaving their own families and properties during those fires, with some even losing their own homes. Waking up to find the station targeted and stripped of the very tools used to keep the community safe is a significant blow to morale today.

Much of the equipment taken was generously gifted to the Terip Brigade by others to help rebuild capacity after the fires. The stolen items include:

▫️ 1x Stihl MS391 FarmBoss chainsaw

▫️ 2x Chainsaws donated by the Yarck recovery hub

▫️ 1x Aussie quickfill pump with Honda motor - Model: QP-205SE/GX160P - Serial number: 1918074 (donated by the Christmas Hills CFA Brigade)

▫️ 1x Davey quickfill pump with Honda motor - Model: G8016-1 - Serial number: 07029 112052 (donated by the Christmas Hills CFA Brigade)

▫️ Jerry cans containing fuel

▫️ 1x Stihl RE108 Presssue Washer

▫️ 2x brand new GME TX6165 UHF handheld radios

▫️ 1x Stanley 2000kva generator

▫️ 1x Honda Brushcutter

▫️ 1x Starlink Mini

▫️ 1x Stihl chainsaw helmet

▫️ 1x Toolbag containing assorted tools

▫️ 1x Large set of boltcutters

This equipment isn't just gear—it is community property used to protect lives and homes. Seeing it taken from the volunteers who rely on it to help others is incredibly frustrating.

We need your help. Please share this post far and wide. If you saw anything suspicious around the Terip Terip fire station over the last 48 hours, or if you see this specific gear popping up for sale online or in the community, please do the right thing.

Contact Crime Stoppers Victoria on 1800 333 000 or make a report online at https://www.crimestoppersvic.com.au/report-a-crime/ with any information.

As the Fire Danger Period for Murrindindi Shire came to an end at the start of this week, we’d like to sincerely thank our community and visitors for their support this season. Your cooperation on Total Fire Ban and high fire danger days meant we had very few preventable call-outs, allowing us to focus our resources where they were truly needed. We really appreciate it. 🙏🚒

With restrictions now lifted, residents can begin burning off and preparing properties for winter. If possible, please consider using the green waste disposal at the Shire tip, especially while conditions remain very dry.

To avoid unnecessary brigade attendance, please remember to register your burn-off before you light up. This lets the State Control Centre know your fire is safe and legal.

Register online: https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/contact/register-your-burn-off
Or call: 1800 668 511

Before burning off, please ensure you:
• Follow CFA and council regulations
• Notify your neighbours
• Check the weather forecast
• Maintain a 3-metre firebreak
• Have enough people and equipment to control the burn safely

We know many people haven’t registered burn-offs in the past, but with recent fires in the district, the community is understandably more alert. Registering helps keep everyone informed and reassured. 👍

Stay safe, and thank you again for supporting your local brigade this fire season. 🔥👩‍🚒👨‍🚒

If you’re heading along to the Alexandra Pro Rodeo today, please take a moment to say hello to the friendly local volunteers helping with parking and pedestrian access. 👋

Our crew will be stationed at the car park entrance off Station Street, and any donations made on entry are greatly appreciated—they go straight back into supporting community.

Thanks for helping make today a great day for everyone, stay safe and enjoy the rodeo! 🤠🐎
