Introducing Peruvian coffee via ECOM's SMS team in Tingo María! 🇵🇪

Last year we visited Tingo María and our sister company CAMSA to better understand the history and potential for coffee in this amazing part of Peru. 🔍

Tingo María is a city located by the Huallaga River in central Peru (Huánuco department) between the Andean highlands and the Amazon rainforest. Its coffee history has been one of trials and tribulations due to the documented coca trade run by Peruvian Rebels, taking decades to find stability, steady income and safety for famers and their communities. The area presents ideal edaphoclimatic conditions for coffee cultivation where crops are grown between 1,200 – 1,800 m.a.s.l with an average temperature of 22ºC. The main Arabica varieties in the area are Typica, Bourbon, Caturra, and Catimor. 🍒

This SMS project blender has a cluster of 155 farmers with 417.5 hectares of coffee in production. Before coffee, producers used to have coca plantations which weren’t a safe or legal business. With that experience and the will to have a respectable / safe income, they now use their knowledge and hard work to focus on increasing productivity and quality of coffee. Coffee in this area tastes of sweet chocolate with mandarin acidity, a creamy body and pleasant aftertaste. 👅

Get in touch for samples and if you'd like to learn more about this incredible coffee project!

It's time to start thinking Costa Rica coffee! 🇨🇷 ☕

Last week Emilio Estevez visited Volcán Azul .azul , touring the farm with Alejo Castro Kahle , exploring conservation work and cupping microlots to select from the latest harvest! 🫱🏼‍🫲🏽

Who is Alejo? Sixth-generation coffee producer Alejo Castro Kahle has positioned Volcán Azul among Costa Rica’s most celebrated farms, producing competition level coffees from varieties including Geisha, SL28, Mokka and Sudan Rume. The estate has achieved multiple placements, and its coffees have been selected by National Barista and Brewers Cup champions for competition routines.🏆

Beyond coffee, the Castro family protects more than 1,500 hectares of rainforest through long term conservation initiatives, maintaining large areas of forest alongside coffee production. These efforts include preserving wildlife corridors, protecting native biodiversity, and supporting reforestation projects that help safeguard Costa Rica’s fragile ecosystems for future generations.🌿

We are finalising selections this week so get in touch if you're interested!

Today on International Women’s Day we celebrate the women who shape the coffee industry from seed to cup ☕ 🌱 ❤️

Across producing countries, women contribute an estimated 70% of the labour in coffee farming, yet often have access to fewer resources, land rights, and financial opportunities. This year’s theme “Give To Gain,” reminds us that when the industry invests in women through fair pay, access to markets, education, and leadership, the entire coffee ecosystem grows stronger. Communities thrive, quality improves, and the future of coffee becomes more sustainable for everyone.

At Condesa Co.Lab we’re proud to work with partners who support greater equity and visibility for women across the coffee value chain.

Fresh and juicy Catuai via Finca Los Sauces, Colombia 🍒 🇨🇴

Sourced via our sister company , Finca Los Sauces is a 3.5 hectare farm founded in the 1970's in the highlands of Chillurco, Huila. The farm sits at 1800 MASL on volcanic soils and is managed today by producer Sergio Caldero and his family. The farm currently grows Catuai amongst other varietals and focuses on clean, high quality washed coffees. ☕

The origins of Finca Los Sauces are rooted in family. Sergio’s father first purchased and worked the land, establishing the foundations of the farm. When Sergio married 20 years ago, he and his wife chose to dedicate themselves fully to the farm, producing coffee out of a deep love for their territory and their community. Over the years, their two children have become an important support, helping the family continue shaping and improving coffee quality 🫱🏼‍🫲🏽

We have limited vac packs now available. Oh, and if you're a home roaster you can order direct from our website! 🔗https://condesacolab.pulse.ly/2cnymnfek7

Sweet and clean coffee from Rwanda? Yes please!!! 🇷🇼 ☕👅

Our sister company has brought us an extraordinary washed-process Bourbon from the Coproca washing station in Rwanda's stunning Nyamasheke district. Nestled in the lush western highlands near Lake Kivu, this coffee is a true labour of love from around 1,000 dedicated smallholder farmers. These farmers deliver handpicked top-quality cherries grown on the steep hillsides at elevations at around 1,700–1,900 meters. The ideal cool climate and rich soils ensure a slow, even maturation, creating a coffee profile that's nothing short of exceptional! 💖

We have limited vac packs to share so grab yours while you can!

Meet Joel Tocto Peña, one of Peru’s most exciting young coffee producers! 🇵🇪❤️‍🔥

At just 21 years old, Joel works with the skill and intuition of a seasoned producer alongside his skills as a cupper and roaster. When we visited Joel and his family via in Tinajas back in June, we were welcomed not just as guests, but as family. They walked us through the farm he grew up on, shared stories and picked fresh fruit straight from trees. Afterwards we sat down for a cooked meal with some of the best homemade lemonade we’ve ever had! 🍋

Joel represents a new generation of coffee farmer - curious, ambitious, and relentlessly dedicated to improving quality year after year. He’s constantly experimenting with varieties and processing, pushing boundaries to create coffees that are expressive, clean, and full of character. 🍒

We still have very limited amounts of Joel’s Honey Process coffee available in vac-packs.... and it’s tasting incredible! Think florals, honey, milk chocolate and bright tropical fruits! 😋

If you’re keen to try what the future of Peruvian coffee tastes like, get in touch. These won’t last long! ☕✨
