Ten years as a B Corp felt like a good reason to pull up a chair. So we sat 60 friends from across the industry at one very long, very loopy figure-of-eight table at The Calyx and asked a big question: what are we prepared to do differently?

We swapped the mixing desk for mixing bowls.

For our staff quarterly, the AV1ders headed into the kitchen with OzHarvest for their Cooking For A Cause program. Here’s what the team cooked up:

🍽 192 nutritious meals prepared
🥕 96kg of rescued food put to good use
🌏 96kg of CO2 emissions avoided
⏱ 60 volunteer hours contributed

From front of house to back of house, it’s safe to say we had a grate time. (Sorry.) Huge thanks to the OzHarvest team for showing us the ropes and for the incredible work they do every day.

We were proud to be a Gold Sponsor of the Australian Native Food Festival at Carriageworks from 25 to 27 September. Presented by Indigiearth, the festival put First Nations chefs, native ingredients and Australia’s oldest food culture in front of a very hungry Sydney crowd.

Turns out a good taste check is every bit as satisfying as a good sound check. Thank you to the Indigiearth team for having us, and to everyone who came along to eat, learn and celebrate on Gadigal land.

One table, sixty people from across the events industry, and a lot of conversation that ran past dessert.

Common Ground brought together clients, partners and friends who believe business can be a force for good. A Welcome to Country, a violin leading everyone into the room, a plant-based menu built on seasonal produce, and two conversations between courses about the decisions behind how events get made.

Last Tuesday at Common Ground, AV1, in partnership with Botanic Gardens of Sydney, Laissez-Faire Catering, Simply Seated, B Lab AANZ and The Bowerbird Collective, brought together clients, partners and friends who believe business can be a force for good, and who have spent years developing what this looks like in practice.

The evening also marked ten years since AV1 became a Certified B Corporation, one part of a longer story about the people, ideas and different perspectives that shape how we all choose to work.

Our Marketing and Communications Manager, Andrew Crook, took to the stage at Events Uncovered, moderating ‘The next-generation talent reshaping events’ panel.

He was joined by four young leaders already shaping the future of business events, Holly Barnett (Touchpoint Events), Edward Callen (Adelaide Convention Centre), Kirsty Boase (Tourism Tropical North Queensland) and Terence Smith (Known Associates).

Thirty minutes covered a lot: career pathways into events, why outreach and mentoring matter, the generational shift in how we think about work, and where purpose and sustainability fit into the decisions we make every day.

We were proud to deliver event support for the Office of the 24-Hour Economy for its Open Mike Night at Bar 53 in Little Asia, Canley Vale, bringing together government officials, venue operators, hospitality workers and creative communities to talk about what's next for local nightlife.

The conversation covered practical ways to cut red tape for venues, strengthen support for live music, and bring placemaking initiatives like Special Entertainment Precincts to life. It's exactly the kind of collaboration that helps after-dark culture thrive, and we loved being part of making the room work for it.
