Today is 30 June. The last day of FY2026.

And I'm not sure I'm ready for the new financial year.

Have I done everything I need to?

Have I forgotten something?

Have I prepped enough?

All these questions are whizzing around in my brain.

I have to keep reminding myself - it's just one day in a calendar of 365 days. It's not that special.

Tonight, I'll take a breath and hopefully wake tomorrow with purpose and calm.

Payday Super is almost here.

What does it mean for your business?

❔Super is paid on ‘Qualifying Earnings’

❔Super needs to be transferred at the same time as you pay employees (and contractors).

❔Super contributions need to be received and allocated to your employee’s super fund within 7 days of their payday.

❔If payments are returned, you have 3 days to fix the issue and transfer the funds to the super fund.

How to prepare

📋Check your employee details and ensure they are correct.

📋Confirm that all super fund details are up to date.

📋Confirm your software is ready and compliant.

📋Prepare your cash flow. Make sure you have adequate funds to transfer super at the same time as pays. Start building a cash reserve.

January 26 is not a day to celebrate.

For me, it’s a day to reflect, listen, and learn more about our First Nations and how I can be a better ally.

We need to acknowledge the ongoing hurt caused by this day and move it to a day where we can all celebrate together.
