A proud moment for Anmatyerre Families and Communities. Marking a significant milestone with the official opening of the Arafura Nolans Bore Project.
This has been a long time coming, reflecting years of conversations, planning, negotiations and the aspirations of our people for a stronger future.
This project is about much more than mining. It presents an opportunity to create meaningful employment, grow local businesses, strengthen community governance and build intergenerational wealth for our children and grandchildren.
With the project expected to operate for decades, we have an opportunity to look beyond today and consider what our communities could achieve over the next 20, 30 or even 40 years. For Laramba, Yuelamu, Ti Tree 6 Mile and surrounding communities, the real measure of success will be the lasting benefits for families, stronger communities and greater self-determination.
We acknowledge our old people, including those sadly no longer with us to witness this milestone, along with Traditional Owners and families who have carried the conversations and responsibilities that brought us to this point.
It was also a moment of immense cultural pride to share the stories of our Country through mens and womens ceremonies, honouring our Law, cultural knowledge and the responsibilities passed down through generations.
This is a proud moment, but also the beginning of an important journey. The opportunity now is to ensure this project leaves a lasting legacy, one that strengthens our communities, respects our culture and creates opportunities for generations long after mining has finished.
