Wondering what has happened to the battery rebate?
The good news is that if you haven't installed a home battery yet, there's still plenty of time to take advantage of the Federal Government's Cheaper Home Batteries Program.
Like the solar rebate introduced in 2011, the battery rebate is designed to gradually reduce over time and is scheduled to continue until December 2030.
The program has recently undergone its first rebate adjustment, with the next reduction due on 31 December. This means battery systems installed after that date will receive a lower rebate.
While the rebate has reduced, many battery manufacturers have also lowered their prices, helping to offset some of the impact. However, delaying your decision could still cost you. A typical 25kWh battery system installed next year could receive more than $850 less in rebate support than the same system installed today.
Demand for battery storage remains strong, and installation schedules are already filling into July and August. If you're considering a battery, now is the ideal time to start the conversation.
