Farmwall

Farmwall Daily nutrition where life happens. We reconnect people to living food systems with Aquaponics and Microgreens. https://linktr.ee/farmwall

Farmwall is growing the urban food infrastructure to make fresh food accessible to all. At Farmwall we exist to create a healthy, educated and connected community of Australians. We do that by designing sustainable products, technology and experiences that spark meaningful interactions with our food, and which also benefit our environment.

What exactly is Farmwall? 🌱🐟

In this video, Ara gives you a quick look at what Farmwall is all about bringing food production into the places where we live, work and learn.

Farmwall combines indoor growing, aquaponics and circular systems to grow fresh, nutritious food while creating a hands-on connection to where our food comes from.

But it’s more than a farm.

It’s a living system.
It’s education.
It’s community.
And it’s a different way of thinking about food.

Watch Ara explain what Farmwall is — and why we’re building it. 🌱

🌱 What if our buildings could help us grow, connect, and thrive?

For too long, we’ve designed cities by separating ourselves from nature. Food is grown far away, biodiversity is disappearing, and our workplaces are becoming disconnected from the ecosystems that sustain us.

At Farmwall, we believe the future of the built environment is alive. 🌿

By bringing food-growing ecosystems into workplaces, schools, and communities, we reconnect people with nature — creating spaces that nourish our bodies, support biodiversity, and remind us that we are part of something bigger.

Imagine a world where every building has the ability to grow food, teach sustainability, and create moments of connection.

The future isn’t just about smarter buildings.

It’s about living buildings. 🌱

Your salad is already aging before you eat it.

After harvest, vegetables keep respiring and slowly lose nutrients—sometimes up to 20–50% of vitamin C within days depending on storage.

That’s why “fresh” isn’t just about where food comes from… it’s about how long it’s been since it was alive.

Microgreens grown and harvested on-site change the equation—food eaten at its peak.

On Saturday we had the privilege of attending the launch of the Village Power Power community battery in our local Alphington community, Melbourne.

We’ve followed this project with great interest over time, and it’s inspiring to see it move from vision to reality, a real example of what can happen when a community comes together to build more resilient, local and sustainable infrastructure.

What stood out most was the reminder that it truly takes a village. From residents to partners to local innovators, these solutions only work when they are collectively supported and thoughtfully integrated into everyday life.

We were also grateful for the opportunity to introduce our Farmwall as part of the broader conversation around local infrastructure, showing how food systems, energy systems and community spaces can work together to support healthier, more connected neighbourhoods.

Proud to be part of a community that is actively shaping what a sustainable future looks like, right here in Alphington.

More. More. MORE.

Packed with nutrients, harvested moments before eating, and somehow they make everything taste better.

Your salad. Your sandwich. Your smoothie. Your burger. Your body will thank you.

🌱 Nature’s Perfect Partnership: The Aquaponic Nitrate Cycle 🐟💧

What makes a Farmwall different from most growing systems?

It all comes down to working with nature, not against it.

In a Farmwall, our fish produce waste that contains ammonia. In a traditional system, ammonia would be harmful. But in a healthy aquaponic ecosystem, naturally occurring beneficial bacteria convert that ammonia into nitrites, and then into nitrates.

Those nitrates become a natural fertiliser that our plants eagerly absorb through their roots. As the plants take up these nutrients, they help clean and purify the water before it returns to the fish.

🐟 Fish feed the plants
🦠 Beneficial bacteria unlock nutrients
🌱 Plants clean the water
💧 Clean water returns to the fish

This creates a living, closed-loop ecosystem where every element supports the next.

Unlike conventional agriculture, which often relies on synthetic fertilisers manufactured using fossil fuels, Farmwall harnesses natural biological processes to grow fresh, nutrient-dense produce. No synthetic fertilisers. No soil degradation. No nutrient runoff into waterways.

By bringing these ecosystems into workplaces, schools and communities, we’re not just growing food—we’re reconnecting people to the natural cycles that sustain life.

Because the future of food isn’t about adding more inputs.

It’s about designing systems where nature does what it does best. 🌿
