Public Art in Focus | Coastal Threads

Coastal Threads draws inspiration from the Bondi-to-Bronte coastal walk, using flowing steel curves and colourful threads to reflect the movement and character of Sydney’s coastline.

The project brought together TURNER Studio, Xavier Knight and National Sign Build, with our team helping transform the concept into an immersive sculptural installation.
The finished work was presented at Sculpture by the Sea, inviting visitors to experience public art through colour, movement and its coastal setting.

Public Art in Focus | Bird Mural at Showground Village

Aboriginal artist Danny Eastwood created the Bird Mural using local native bird species to express cultural significance and a strong connection to Country.

Each bird represents different Aboriginal tribes and identities, reflecting stories of creation, nature and interconnectedness while encouraging respect for wildlife and their habitats.

National Sign Build worked from artwork supplied by TURNER Studio to deliver the detailed design as a large-scale mural installation at Showground Village.

Public Art in Focus | Nepean Looking Glass

Inspired by the nearby Nepean River, Nepean Looking Glass brings a flowing sculptural form into Pullman Sydney Penrith, connecting the interior with the character of the surrounding landscape.

Designed by TURNER Studio, with Aniss Adler and Georgia Crawley, National Sign Build delivered the sculptural fabrication of the 13-metre installation, carefully maintaining its continuous form across the curved wall and ceiling.

The project received a Merit in the Spatial category at the 2024 AGDA Design Awards.

At ECQ Outlet, prominent identification above the entrance helps mark the point where visitors move from the wider precinct into the retail environment.

It is a simple role, but an important one. Clear entrance signage gives people confirmation that they have reached the right destination while helping the retail identity stand out within the surrounding architecture.

Signage Across a Connected Residential Community

At the heart of Sanctuary’s masterplan, Laguna & Glade bring together 163 waterside apartments within a community designed around green space, the river and connection.

Across the project, signage shifts in scale and purpose — from prominent building and address identification to apartment, level and statutory information.

Together, these details help each part of the residential environment remain identifiable while sitting comfortably within the wider Sanctuary setting.

We’re excited to share our recent work at Sanctuary by Sekisui House in Wentworth Point, a waterside community shaped around connection to nature, parklands and the Parramatta River.

Across the Laguna & Glade stage, our signage work includes building identification, address signage and the smaller details that help the residential environment read clearly and consistently.

Tactile, braille and identification signage support the visitor journey—from arriving at the site to finding individual rooms and facilities.

Accessibility should not feel like an added feature. It should be part of how every building communicates with everyone from the beginning.
