If you've said at least two of these… you're not alone.

You know you’re competent. You know your areas of interest. You know you can help people.

But the second you sit down to write your website bio, every single word gets second-guessed:

- "Do I sound too clinical?"
- "Is this too generic?"
- "What will my colleagues think if I write it like this?"
- "Am I turning people away if I'm too specific?"

And before you know it, an hour is wasted turning your resume into a paragraph form and it still doesn't tell a client why they should book.

Your bio isn't supposed to be a thesis defense. It doesn't need to list every modality or diagnostic label under the sun.

It just needs to make the right person read it and think: *"They actually get what I'm going through."*

Stop asking: "How do I sound to my peers?"

Start asking: "Will my ideal client feel understood?"

Your clinical credentials are exceptional. But they won't comfort a human lying awake at 3 AM asking one simple question: "Can this person help me?"

When clinicians write their website bios with diagnostic codes, university thesis topics, and heavy clinical modalities, it creates an artificial language barrier.

If you’re struggling to get referrals, it’s not because people aren’t seeking help - it’s likely that they don’t connect with who are.

When you shift your messaging away from pathology and start describing the actual lived experience of your ideal clients, two things happen:

1. Prospective clients immediately feel seen, understood, and validated.

2. They reach out for your service.

DM "BIO" to get instant access to the free Better Bio resource to help you get rid of that jargon.

Ever wondered why a woman can land on a healthcare website and still not feel like it’s meant for her?

Sometimes, it comes down to language.

When bios lead with diagnoses, credentials and clinical terminology, the person behind the symptoms can get lost.

At Her Mind Her Health, we’re exploring how practitioners can bridge the gap between clinical expertise and human connection by speaking to the lived experience behind the label.

👉 Swipe through to see what happens when you trade clinical labels for language your client actually recognises.

A diagnosis can describe part of someone's experience.

But it doesn't always describe what their Tuesday actually looks like.

That's why client-centred messaging matters.

An overwhelmed client is not sitting on your website admiring a list CPD or Modalities. 😅

They aren't counting your degrees or checking to see if you listed every clinical term under the sun. They're just sitting there, struggling, trying to figure out something much simpler:

"Do they actually get what life feels like for me right now??"
"Can this person actually help ME??"

When your bio forces your client to translate, research and understand who you are, you miss an opportunity for connection.

Stick with me here. Here’s a real bio example:

Original Bio:
I work with adult individuals in treating general mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, stress, and relationship difficulties and specialise in treating addition disorders and trauma recovery.

A Better Bio:
You’ve spent years working out how to cope, adapt, achieve, and keep going. You look like you have it all together, while internally, you’re exhausted. You might even be turning to substance use. But you’ve been hiding the “real” you. To the point you’re struggling to maintain happy healthy relationships.

Clarity to reduce the CONSUMERS Emotional / Mental Load is what bridges the gap between "this practitioner looks qualified" and "this is my person."

Trying to make your bio do everything at once:

-Professional, but warm.
-Specific, but broad.
-Clinical, but no jargon.
-Concise, but listing all 17 qualifications. 🫠

No wonder you end up staring at a screen for hours questioning every word.

When you try to tick every box, your bio ends up looking like a resume in paragraph form and you write to impress your colleagues instead of talking to a real human.

Your bio doesn't need to pass a board audit. It just needs to answer one question for the person landing on your page:

“Is this someone who actually gets what I'm going through??"

Stop trying to say everything. Keep it simple and focus on real life.

You don't need to squeeze your entire professional history into your bio to prove you're qualified.

The person reading it is usually wondering something much simpler:

“Do you understand what I'm going through?”

That's why strong practitioner messaging isn't about listing everything you can do.

It's about making the right person recognise themselves in your words.

Your understanding creates authority.

Clarity creates connection.

At some point, "finding the right word" becomes an entire late-night research project. 😅

You change support to empower. Then empower to guide. Then suddenly you’re searching Google for: "What is a more professional word for help??"

Girl. Your ideal client is not sitting there grading your vocabulary.

When practitioners spend hours overthinking, it may be a subconscious attempt to impress your colleagues or avoid looking "unprofessional."

But what actually happens is your bio turns into your resume in paragraph form, and the actual human looking for help has no idea what you do.

An overwhelmed client isn't looking for thesis-level terminology. They’re just reading your page trying to answer three simple questions:

"Do you actually get what I'm going through??"

"Do you work with people like me??"

"Can you actually help me??"

We’re tackling how to fix healthcare messaging and move away from clinical labels to focus on lived experience at Her Mind Her Health on August 28th.

Sometimes connection, friendship, and expansion means agreeing to a 2 hour breathwork evening. While he used the word excited, I smiled and knew that my role here is to experience the event and see it from his perspective.

I absolutely LOVE friendship. I love community. I love connection.

Even if i dont love meditation. 😂

Sometimes its worth not being in control, stepping back and facing our fears. Because honestly this event was incredible. I would have been devastated had a chickened out.

Fear mostly is the unknown. How did you lean in this weekend??
