When feeding we learnt early on that you need to be very carful to make sure you don't over cover the top of the worm bed with food, by leaving a gap around the food and not going to thick you allow the worms to be able to come in and out and provide enough airflow. By over feeding them you can make the worms go toxic.

We mix our consistent food source together and feed about once a month or so depending on time of year. This is one of the unique processes we use to ensure a consistent high quality product.

Over hot weather periods we take a three layer approach to keeping the worms cool and happy, we add a mesh net over the top which allows for air flow while providing shade, a hessian mat follows with our watering system the final layer which recycles the vermicast mix over the top of the farm to help with nutrient cycling.

These hardy composters are easy to care for, reproduce quickly, tolerate a wide range of temperatures, and can eat large quantities of organic waste.

Each 1kg bag will include a mix of each of these species and will contain approximately 4,000 worms.

Pricing includes shipping & GST.

Chris Pethick doing his best work mixing together another highly nutritious, consistent food source to feed our worms.

Chris uses VermiGold™ in his own orchard with no other inputs for many of the trees. He recommends adding in around 500ml of Molasses per hectare to VermiGold™ as it feeds the microbes and has a positive effect of acting as a soil wetter which is great if you have sandy soils. Other great additions can be Kelp and any fish products to give a further boost.

Do you free pour?

We love the freedom VermiGold™ offers in the garden, you have greater flexibility when it comes to applying our organic fertiliser as you're much less likley to overfeed your plants as you would with a synthetic fertiliser.

Simply add about 90ml VermiGold™ to a standard 9l watering can or essentially until it looks just like a weak tea, then you're good to go.

So..... Do you free pour?

The claw!!!!

We use this articulating arm to aerate the worm beds during the feeding process. This brings in oxygen which kills off anaerobic bacteria. Anaerobic bacteria can produce toxic compounds that limit root growth and make plants susceptible to root diseases.

What are some of the benefits of using organic biostimulants in your garden?

1. Improves soil biodiversity through the promotion of beneficial bacterial microbes and fungi.
2. Unlocks nutrients in the soil making it available for the plants for effective growth.
3. Enables better resistance to stresses such as climatic variations, mineral deficiencies, disease etc.
4. It can be applied as a foliar spray or directly onto the soil.
5. It's good for the planet and your health.

Just to name a few! Have we missed any?

Keeping the worms moist and cool. We extract the organic liquid tonic directly from the worm beds into our tank system, not fermenting it in anyway, from there we cycle this back over the beds when watering is required to ensure our moisture levels are kept the same consistently.

Vermigold™ is organic certified.
