Founded by Stephen George in 1982 Ashton Hills has acquired an international reputation as one of Australia’s finest Pinot Noir producers. A unique site in the Piccadilly Valley that has carefully cultivated a range of Pinot Noir clones over 30 years, the Ashton Hills Vineyard sits 570 metres above sea level

and is regarded as a true pioneer in cool climate Adelaide Hills wines. Long regarded as the benchmark for Pinot Noir, Ashton Hills also produces an exceptional riesling and wonderful range of sparkling wines. Come and visit the rustic cellar door with its stunning views over the Piccadilly Valley and experience the range of award winning wines. Open Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays from 11am -5pm. A considered release, shaped by site and season.⁠

Our 2025 Reserve Chardonnay brings together a selection of the finest barrels from our Woods Hill and Bowhouse vineyards in the Piccadilly Valley - the small, cool pocket of the Adelaide Hills that continues to define the style of Ashton Hills Chardonnay.⁠

Wild fermented and matured for nine months in French oak, this limited release shows both precision and quiet power.⁠

Our 2025 Ashton Hills Gamay has been recognised in the Young Gun of Wine Gamay Deep Dive, earning a place in the Top Wines and appearing in the top selections of panellists Indra Nadeson and Callie Jemmeson.⁠

Nadeson noted the wine’s layered aromatics and structural depth, “...aromas of basil and sweet liquorice – a hint of a deliciously complex wine to come." while Jemmeson highlighted its bright fruit profile, “Juicy and slurpy with fresh cherry and cranberry, layered with lavender, potpourri and a delicate amaro spice. Light on its feet but still interesting, with that slightly savoury edge keeping it balanced. Chill it down and take it to a barbecue or picnic – this is where it shines.”⁠

Winemaker Liam Van Pelt shared why the region is embracing the variety:⁠
“When you look at the Adelaide Hills, in terms of varieties that we think are suitable, gamay was increasing in popularity. It really suits the climate and the region well… depending on how you make it, it can offer a very similar drinking style to pinot – bright, fruity, fresh and vibrant.”⁠
